I LOVE this place! The burritos are about 100 times better than Chipotle and the space is so awesome. The fact that they have Fitger's beer on tap makes it even better. I wish I could pick this place up and move it to Minneapolis!
This place is adorable and their beer is awesome! I had the veggie chili with guacamole on top, and it was very good. Sadly, their wild rice burger is vegetarian, but not vegan. (I think it has cheese in it.) They were very good about knowing what was vegan and what wasn't, and there seemed to be quite a few options.
The prices are higher than most places in Duluth, but I think it's worth it. I had a curry chick pea soup and salad while I was there and both were excellent. I would like to see a few more vegan options on the menu, but there are already a few and they are very knowledgeable about what is/isn't vegan and willing to accommodate. The atmosphere is great and the wait staff is very friendly.
This is much better Vietnamese that you would expect to find in Duluth. I have had the lemon grass tofu (OK), Mongolian tofu (really good), a decent curry dish, and possibly some others. They are VERY friendly here, and although I'm not sure they understand the terms "vegan" or "vegetarian", they will leave out fish sauce/chicken stock upon request.
I went for brunch recently and had a tofu scramble that was quite good. I also tried the vegan pancake, which was a bit dry but still quite tasty and the roasted potatoes and beets, which were delicious.
This is my new fave restaurant in Mpls! I had the vegan cream cheese wontons (HEAVEN!!!), stuffed tofu, tofu in black bean sauce, and a really good homemade coconut drink. The service is as amazing as the food and it's cheap! I love love love this place! They know what vegan is and have expanded their vegan menu. Lots of the new items aren't in the menu. They're posted on the wall or you can ask your server. Go now!!!
I was there with Sally so I tried the same things. The vegan options are few, but what they have is good. The veggie sushi roll is amazing. And the hummus appetizer has a whole roasted garlic bulb and olive spread and is delicious. I also had a pomegranate mojito that was heaven. It might not be the place to go if you are vegan and starving, but if you want some drinks and some apps and are in the area, it’s a great little spot.
I can't say enough good things about this place. We recently went to Minneapolis for a long weekend and at there twice. The fake sweet and sour chicken was just about the best thing I have ever put in my mouth. I LOVED it!!! I also had the fake beef with broccoli, which was wonderful. This place is the best. They are so friendly, and I loved seeing vegetarian literature in the restaurant.
I am very confused by the negative reviews for this place. I went for the first time last weekend and I had an excellent experience. The waitress knew exactly what was and was not vegan. I had their veggie burger and it was so good. There were tons of good looking things on the menu. The person I was there with ordered a sandwich and asked for no celery on it. It came with celery on it anyway, so he picked it off. The waitress noticed the celery on his plate and comped his entire meal without his even asking. The service was top-notch and the food was awesome. I will be returning soon to try other things.
YUM!!! This place rocks. I had the mango spring rolls with tofu and the basil dish with tofu. Both were excellent. Their peanut sauce is divine. I also tried the tofu satay (AWESOME!), the papaya salad and the ginger tofu, and they were all tasty as well. I will be going back very soon!
This place is cute as a button! The space, which is the lower part of an old house, is painted in cheerful yellows and oranges, has simple blond wood furniture, and had a small glass with bright yellow daisies on each table. The food tastes as pretty as the place looks. I started with the vanilla and nutmeg chai, which was hands down the best chai I have ever had. That alone is worth the trip. My boyfriend and I then shared an appetizer of potato cakes stuffed with peas and mushrooms. I believe it was called aloo chop, and then was my favorite food item I had. I had the Kathmandu curry as my entree, which is tofu and mixed veggies in a delicious curry sauce. It was good, but a bit on the oily side. I'm sure if you ask for less oil, they would accommodate. My boyfriend had a dish with potatoes and black eyed peas, which was really good but more on the bland side, which was perfect for him. They don't have any vegan deserts yet, but the owner said he is working on it. The overall experience was wonderful. The service was great and the place just feels happy inside.
I love Nami! Especially during happy hour. $3 drinks and $3 sushi/appetizers from 5-7 daily. They have avocado rolls, cucumber rolls, edamame, and veggie gyoza (stuffed with awesome mock pork) on the happy hour menu. They also have lots of other veggie sushi on the main menu or you can special order stuff. Sadly, the miso soup is not vegetarian - there is fish stock in it. I had the same issue as Sally with a waitress saying it was veg. But later, I got a vegan waiter and they told me it wasn't. Most of the waitstaff understands vegan, but with some of them, you have to explain it. They are very accommodating once they get it. Yay Nami!!!
This place is bigger than it used to be and now has 2 dining rooms. They also have beer/wine/sake now. Rice Paper is one of my favorite restaurants. I agree with previous commenters that it is a bit on the spendy side, but I think their food is unique and delicious enough that it's worth spending the extra dough. Their lunch menu is a bit cheaper, so if you want to save some cash, go for lunch. The green onion scallion pancake wraps are my favorite thing on the menu. So tasty!
I love this place! The only entree I have had is the organic tempeh sandwich with no cheese. I get it over and over again because it's so good. The drinks are amazing. I recommend the cardinal cordial and Kentucky cousin. I have called ahead of time and they have let me bring my own soy ice cream for the booze milkshakes. The pumpkin pie is so good. I am thinking if more people request this, maybe they'll start stocking soy ice cream. They are very accommodating of vegans and understand what it means. The food is good, the service is better, and the booze is the best. What more can you ask for?
I LOVE this place! I have had the ginger stir-fry and the basil stir-fry and both were excellent. It is the best Thai I have had in the Twin Cities. YUM!
An earlier review said that all the stir-fry dishes have fish sauce. They may come this way normally, but if you request it, they won't add it. Our waittress also brought us dipping sauce w/out fish sauce since we requested it not to come in our entrees. Service!
I love Eden Alley! They have great food. The Spinach Loaf with Marinara is heaven as are the roasted sweet potatoes. I used to live in Kansas City and it is one of the restaurants I miss most.
You might thing that all Mongolian BBQ is the same, but then you would be wrong. Genghis Khan far surpasses any other Mongolian BBQ I have tried. First, their tofu is wonderful. It is locally made by a small company in Lawrence, KS. Second, they always have a large variety of fresh veggies and good sauces. Third, they will bring you vegetarian tofu soup before your meal for free if you ask for it. Fourth, they have amazing drinks. If you are ever in KC, try this place.
This place has the best falafel EVER! And their stuffed grape leaves are also the best I have ever had. Other tasty items include the lentil soup and the rice. The hummus is pretty good, but the baba isn't the best. The waitstaff is really friendly and you can BYOB to Jerusalem. I miss this place now that I no longer live in KC.
This place is really wonderful, and it's one of the only veg-friendly restaurants north of the river. There aren't many vegetarian options listed on the menu, but many of them can be made vegetarian/vegan with tofu. I like the black pepper tofu best, but everything I have tried here has been amazing. They bring you a really good vegetarian soup before your meal at lunch time. Their lunch is very cheap and comes with soup and appetizers, so it's best to go then.
I can't recommend this place highly enough. They have the best tofu you will ever eat. It’s like no other tofu I have had. It is cooked all the way through and soaks up the juices of the meal perfectly. I recommend the Bun, Green Pepper Stir-fry, or Curry with tofu. Be sure to get an order of vegetarian spring rolls. The peanut sauce is by far the best I have ever had.
This is the best Thai food I have ever put in my mouth, and I eat at Thai restaurants in every city I travel to. They have full vegetarian menu, but you have to request it. My personal favorites are the yellow curry tofu with no egg and the ginger tofu. Vegetarian Pad Thai (with or w/out egg) is a very popular dish.
This is the only place to get a soy cheese pizza in Kansas City. Their pizza is great and they have a decent salad bar.
I ate here twice when I was in Montreal recently. It's in a very central location in the hip Plateau area of town, which is awesome. It's also pretty affordable, which is great. AND they let you byob and there is an adorable little liquor store right down the street where you can get cold beers or a bottle of wine to go with dinner. So those are the pluses. The minuses - The food is very lackluster. There's a fake beef satay appetizer thing which is AWESOME, but everything else I had was so-so. You choose your items from a deli case and they microwave the crap out of it until it all has the taste and texture of rubber. The second day I was there, I noticed some people order off of a menu instead of from the deli case and their food looked much more appetizing, so I would DEFINITELY suggest doing this if the option is available on the day that you go.
