The vegan burger (veggie burger #2) is delicious, and so are the fries which are cut from whole potatoes on-site and cooked in olive oil.
Natalia's Elegant Creations' physical location in Falls Church has closed, but Natalia still offers catering with 48 hours notice. Her vegan baked goods are fantastic. She has provided some at a low cost for the Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale and her items always sell out. Peanut butter bars are one of my personal favorites, but everything she makes is delicious.
I get take out from Sunflower fairly often - often enough that they recognize my voice when I call to place my order! So embarrassing! The dishes I often order and really enjoy are the spring rolls, Vegan General Tso's Magic, the Amazing Mushrooms Palate, and the Kale and Burdock Deluxe. The coconut vegi-shrimp appetizer is good but the sauce doesn't quite match the coconut flavors (they should take notes from Busboys and Poets, who have a coconut tofu bites appetizer that is to die for!).
The only bad thing about Sunflower is their desserts. I had the Organic Lemon Tofu pie once years ago before I went veg and thought it was absolutely disgusting. We tried the chocolate cake this past year and were disappointed by it, too. If I want vegan dessert now I prefer to make it myself or pick something up from the nearby Loving Hut location!
Sunflower's interior is nice - it's a full-sized restaurant, not your typical Chinese takeout place. As you might guess, they have sunflower artwork EVERYWHERE. They do not sell alcohol. The staff is nice and the service for takeout is fast - the food is always ready in about 10 minutes - even when they're busiest on weekends it only takes about 15 minutes.
We are so lucky to have this all-vegan restaurant in the Falls Church area. It is located across from the National Memorial Park cemetery on Lee Highway, and tucked back next to the 7-Eleven. The parking lot spaces are impossibly tight but there's street parking, too, if you're worried about squeezing into the lot.
I haven't branched out too much at Loving Hut because the first thing I ever ordered there was so delicious that it's what I always want - the Golden Vermicelli with Lemongass Protein (#9)! I've had the golden rolls (which come with the dish) and the summer rolls, both of which are very tasty. The soups are good but they're hard to eat without making a total mess of yourself - broth splashing all over you as you try to eat the goodies in it... The Spicy Cha Cha is the only entree with vegan shrimp featured in it and while the shrimp themselves are fried little pieces of heaven, the bed of shredded iceburg lettuce that they come on top of is a bit weird.
And lastly - the desserts! Loving Hut carries desserts from Vegan Treats and they are out of this world. I'm always craving the vegan cheesecake, and the cannoli is so good that my non-veg mother was amazed that it didn't contain ricotta cheese. There are limited places to get vegan desserts in the DC area and the desserts that Loving Hut carries are among the best, in my opinion!
