Humongous salad, soup, dessert, taco, and hot-food bar

Starving? Or just have a lot of hungry mouths to feed? Then Q Cumbers in Edina is the place for you. It features an enormous fresh vegetable salad bar (two lines are open to speed up a busy lunchtime crowd); 4 types of soup (always one vegan option); muffins; breads; a dessert bar; including fresh fruits; a hot-food bar (items change on a daily basis) consisting of such veg items as garlic mashed potatoes, corn on the cob (seasonal), vegetarian refried beans, steamed mixed veggies, baked potates, and more! There's also a taco bar with all the fixins, including red-ripe fresh tomatoes.

And on Sunday, there's a delicious brunch until 2 pm; which includes tradtional breakfast items, plus all the usual lunchtime salad bar items.

So there's no shortage of fresh, tasty food here. And it won't break your wallet; about $7 for lunch (before 4 pm) and $9 for dinner or the Sunday brunch.

As far as salad bars go, this is one of the best ones I've been to. The fact that I can use romaine or spinach instead of plain old iceberg for my salad, makes me like this place. It seems like there are a few more salad toppings than most places offer- like chickpeas, shredded cabbage, red onions. The hot food is OK. If nothing else looks good to me, there are always baked potatoes that I can take back over to the salad bar for toppings. The soups are hit or miss- but usually there are one or two vegetarian ones.

This is our go-to place for taking out-of-town guests and family members who aren't into trying anything "different." The food can be a little on the boring side, but there is something for everyone and it's possible to eat a healthy meal here.

I never found much to eat, there's only so much salad one can eat. My fiance noticed that after we would eat there, he would get this sore on his nose, this happened 4 out of the 4 times we went. Once we noticed this trend, we stopped going, and he has never gotten it again. I can't say absolutely that it was because of Q Cumbers, but it's not worth it to go back to find out.
