Veg-friendly Mexican food

Restaurant, Bar

La Perla opened in 1995 and serves authentic and homemade Mexican dishes in the style of Guadalajara, Mexico. They offer 5 dining areas, a roof top balcony, cozy court yard, and the impressive selection of Mexican food, beers, and tequilas. The rice and beans are both vegetarian and you can get vegetarian tacos, burritos, tostadas, quesadillas, enchiladas, flautas, and chimichangas. If vegan, you're good with the first 3, just omit the cheese and sour cream.

La Perla is also known for their mechanical bell pepper and for salsa dancing on the weekends. They also have free shuttle service to MSOE, UWM, and Marquette campuses on Friday and Saturday nights.

Their tomato salsa is good, other than that, not my favorite restaurant to go for Mexican food. It is way too easy for minors to be served alcohol which makes me believe the restaurant is a bit sketch. Last time I went there my appetizer was a mango salsa, which was gross. From what I hear, their margaritas are very inconsistent. Not my idea of a good dining experience will be had at la perla.

La Perla is a fun place to eat but isn't the place to go for super authentic Mexican food. The food is good but over the years, it's definitely evolved into the Mexican place where white people eat. I generally opt for La Fuente in this neighborhood but I do enjoy going to La Perla on the weekends to dance some salsa, bachata, and hip hop. :)
