simple, authentic Italian

Opened about 10 years ago to accomodate booming business from Ristorante Luci (their orignial location), Luci Ancora is a restaurant with dedication to fine food. They offer homemade pastas and mozzarella and utilize locally grown and organic ingredients as well. Their wine list has been featured in Wine Spectator and has many selections from a variety of areas. The atmopshere is classy but casual and friendly, a place where you can make yourself a regular, as many people have.

Atmosphere: 4.5
What one generally thinks of as a slightly higher end, classic Italian restaurant. Romantic, dimmed lights, there was even a small fireplace in one corner. The decor was simple, but classy. All in all, nice, but a little on the small side.

Service: 5.0
Perhaps we were lucky to get a vegan server, but she, of course, certainly knew her stuff. She was very polite (even when one member of our party made quite a few complex orders), and was very attentive.

Food: 4.5
Quality-wise, the food was formidable. Unfortunately, there were not too many options available to vegans, but the restaurant in general seemed very accommodating to us (and the special was vegan as it was). Both the dishes I had were delicious, fairly classic and not too creative -- but both had a bit of a flair (for the salad, the very remarkable olives unlike most I've had, and for the pasta, shredded fried potato as a garnish). Keep away from the bread, however, as our server mentioned it having milk in it.

I've dined here many times. The food is simple, but delicious. I especially love their Insalate Mista and their Spaghetti Napoletana. The quality of the ingredients really comes through with the simplicity of their cooking style. I recommend this place 100% if you want a casual, classy dinner with friends or a romantic date. The staff is very accomodating and willing to answer any questions you have about the food or wine. They are willing to make something special off the menu if you're vegan too :)
