Le Commensal is a great option for vegans visiting Quebec City. It's a spacious restaurant that is conveniently located within a few blocks of Vieux Quebec. There are tons of dairy-free dishes to choose from. My favorites are the Seitan Pot Pie and the Spring Rolls with Mango Sauce.

Le Commensal is one of the few places in Quebec with vegan dessert options. Only four of the desserts are labeled "vegan" - Pineapple Mousse, Tapioca Pudding, Carrot Cake and Soya Cake (a tofu cheesecake with a gelatinous texture). I highly recommend the Tapioca Pudding, which is made with coconut milk. It's very creamy and delicious!

I work at Le Commensal and I want to reassure everybody that we don't weight the plate. We substract it on the computer, and only weight the food, in any plate you choose. For the vegan people, I suggest particulary the "chili" and the "casserole medditerranenne" in the hot buffet. In the cold buffet, don't go away the "avocat aux capres", and in the cold buffet, enjoy the carrot cake with the "mousseline a l'ananas" (topping)

I'm vegan by myself, and working by evening in week as a cashier. If you're vegan ask for Line to say me hello, because I love to meet other vegan folks...

I thought the food was fabulous and the atmosphere was very inviting. They had a good mix of cooked and raw food, fake meats, pastas, veggies, and other items. The buffet was mostly vegan and I was pleased to see that there were a number of eclectic dessert options (the hazelnut cake and the berry cream thing were amazing).

They weigh the food but I didn't see them push a special button to indicate if you have a large or a small size plate (which presumably weigh different amounts and would affect the total price) so this is worth asking about if you visit.
