The Mellow Mushroom is a really cool place with a fun atmosphere. They offer Daiya which is always good when it comes to pizza! They had quite a few vegan options on their menu.
Our waitress was really attentive and she had detailed knowledge of what was and wasn't vegan and what could be made vegan. She was very helpful and sweet!
They have a really great beer selection.
We started with the Muffuletta cheese bread made with Daiya instead of the regular cheese. The olive tapenade that was on the bread was absolutely delicious. I think it would have been a little better if it had been left in the oven a few minutes longer to let the cheese REALLY melt, but it was good half-melty. It came with a marinara sauce that was pretty tasty.
After that we had our pizza. We got the standard veggie pizza with Daiya instead of regular cheese. I'm not a huge tofu fan so we had them just put that on Tony's half and I'm happy I did that because it didn't seem like they did anything to the tofu except crumble it (in pretty big crumbles). One thing I really really liked about this veggie pizza is that it had broccoli on it! I love broccoli on things like pizza and in vegan quesadillas so I was excited about that. I also got overly excited about the banana peppers and the sun-dried tomatoes. I'm not usually a HUGE fan of sun-dried tomatoes but they were really good on this pizza.
I'd definitely go back to the Mellow Mushroom and there's a good possibility I will, since they're a chain! Whoot!
