French bistro at North and LaSalle

La Fette is a French-American bistro in Old Town located at North and La Salle. The menu is at the higher-end of the spectrum and caters to the fine-dining audience. They offer brunch, dinner, as well as picnic baskets that can be taken (they recommend the Lakeshore or to Ravinia concerts).

The explicit written menu isn't necessarily abounding with veg-friendly choices; however, the Website encourages anyone with vegetarian requests or allergy concerns to let server staff know and "the chefs will whip up something special".

Reservations are recommended.

Very cute, romantic interior - though you can hear a lot of what's going on in the kitchen. There was one already veganizable dish on the menu (couscous stuffed pepper, which was very good), but the chef was also willing to make up something as well. To start I also had two very nice salads, one was actually a stack of grilled pineapples with some sort of sauce.

There was only one server working when I got there, and the place was starting to pick up, so things were a bit slow. Overall, however, it's a pretty good place to eat on the higher end of the scale.
