All-vegan diner with affable vibe & decor reflected by its traditional working-class neighbourhoods

Est. 14th Feb 2010 at 兵庫県尼崎市長洲中通2-9-10 as 穀菜食堂なばな, where shoes must be taken off at the entrance and the vibe and decor inside are reflected by the affable atmosphere of its traditional commercial and working-class neighbourhoods. The owner-chef has long engaged in rescue activities of abandoned dogs and also launched a communal dining project for children in underprivileged families. For the set meal "Nabana Lunch" a 1-day advanced reservation is required (until 5:00pm via phone, or Facebook which is suggested for non-Japanese speakers), this is sometimes replaced by a seasonal special. Otherwise the only food available is "Ichiju-Issai Lunch" consisting of one soup, one side and rice. Last Order is 30 minutes before the closing time. Power outlets at some seats are available.

The interior with Saburo, its mascot dog who was 3-month-old when adopted by his owner 11 years ago. Here is an anecdote that he had requited his literal lifesaver a few years later: the owner took the plunge and went on veggie diet with her quadruped driving force and now has she been vegan:-)

Shopfront. Time in the neighbourhood passes at different speed than its contiguous hectic Osaka city. Nabana Lunch (¥1000, or ¥850 for takeout sans soup) with skewed cutlets of koyadofu (freezed-dry tofu) as its main. FYI, Ichiju-Issai Lunch costs ¥600(also for takeout). Nabana's Donut (¥200) which is its signature sweet, Miso&Walnut Scone (¥300), Rabbit-eared Crossbread (priceless) and Organic Coffee (¥400). Note the rapacious eyes firmly lock on the baked buddies without a trace of consideration for my sincere admiration toward him as the very trigger of his owner's dietary transition. Beast! Predator & its prey, who kills by his eyes. Saburo is well-behaved and does some tricks. Bit by bit, fair amount of my sweets were devoured into his belly (with permission of his owner, who are working on sweets edible by both man & dog). If you are a dog person, you are pretty much bound to follow my footsteps.
