Raices is an all-vegetarian (possibly all-vegan) restaurant that has a large buffet featuring approximately 20 dishes, including various types of rice, soup, pasta, salad, soy meats, plantain and potato dishes, and traditional Dominican items like pastelon - a baked dish that can be made of plantains, potato, or other roots. There are also a number of vegan desserts.
This Seventh-Day Adventist Church has a cafeteria open to all but there is no sign, so keep a look out for people entering through the glass doors in the middle of the complex. It is located in the Adventist Church complex around the corner from the Supermercado Nacional and across from the Embassy of Haiti. There's also a health food store on the far right of the church that is open weekdays and on Sundays 9am to 1pm.
The staff serves you and prices are per item, ranging about 50-70 pesos per item (between $1.50-2 each).
The seating area is very large and has a cafeteria-feel to it, perhaps because the restaurant is located very near the university and many customers are students and professors.
