All organic, vegan, gluten-free, allergy aware all in one place? Wow! After reading the reviews about Casa de Luz on vegguide, I decided to take my whole family out for breakfast at Casa de Luz. We loved the food and will be going back as often as we can!

My family, of eight, suffers from severe allergies. My aunts, uncles and cousins all have severe food allergies. Each individual in our family has a mixture of allergies. In total when we eat out we have to take into consideration all of the following allergies: all grains, wheat, gluten, milk, eggs, soy, legumes, beans, peanuts, basil, cayenne pepper, dried spices, bananas, strawberries, watermelon, cantaloupe, and all seafood. It is not easy finding a great place that can cater to so many people with different allergies.

Our entire family rejoiced! The buffet contained organic, whole foods that were easily identifiable for our two, four and six year old twins! They did not have to stop and ask, "Daddy can I eat that?" Hallelujah! I love Casa de Luz. I wish the whole earth was filled with Casa de Luzes! We love the kid friendly environment!

The food was absolutely everything we had hoped for and read about from the previous reviewer! Thank you for taking the time to review Casa de Luz. We would have never know how wonderful their establishment was if it wasn't for you! Bless you!

My husband and I ate here when we traveled through Austin Texas. I love that this place is always vegan, organic, gluten free, and allergen aware! I am allergic to cayenne pepper, black pepper, dried spices, milk, eggs, soy, beans, legumes, peanuts, all grains, wheat, and gluten. Eating out is a challenge for me. My husband is allergic to eggs, milk, wheat and soy as well. I want the owners to know how grateful we are for this restaurant! The atmosphere and delicious healthy food made our trip to Austin unforgettable! I love that the food was whole, organic and clearly identifiable. Some reviewers have said the food is bland. I can see how people who eat a lot of spices and processed foods might think that. But my husband and I loved, loved, loved, loved, the food at Casa de Luz!!!!!! Nothing processed here! Yippie!

To get to Casa De Luz you need to walk through a large gate which welcomes you into a peaceful beautiful garden. You can sit down and stretch your legs and relax. I love the communal feel to the dining room. It felt so warm and inviting. It gave us the opportunity to socialize with other guests who like to eat healthy. I want to eat here everyday!

Sunday morning, the food was set up buffet style! I loved that because I have several food allergies. The morning we ate at Casa de Luze the buffet had: posole vegetable Soup, quinoa with onions, brown rice, kidney beans with a red sauce, pinto beans with chilies, mixed raw green salad with almonds, sunflower seeds, and pumpkin seeds with a walnut lemon dressing, blancehd kale greens with an almond pesto basil, gluten free corn tortillas, cabbage and zucchini mix, mashed sweet potatoes, steamed kabocha squash, gluten free pancakes with blueberry syrup, fruity oatmeal, and hibiscus mint tea.

I thought I had died and gone to allergy heaven! I can not eat any grains or beans. So I loaded up on large raw mixed green salad, blanched kale with walnut lemon dressing, sweet potaotes, steamed cabbage, zucchini, soup and squash! My husband made himself a Mexican burrito breakfast plate with a big side of blanched kale and a raw salad.

I love Casa de Luz. I have never eaten at a microbiotic vegan restaurant before! Where has this restaurant been all my life? I have traveled the world and I can honestly say this is my favorite place to eat! Casa de Luz serves only all organic whole food and has a flouride filter on their water! I can't wait until it is time for our next trip to Austin.

If you like this kind of place, its excellent. You have to understand that this place is as much about their philosophy as they are about the taste of the food.

Casa de Luz can make some very good food, but I've been several times when it's been rather bland and boring. It just depends, but I have friends who go more frequently than I do who tell me I must have gone on the off-nights. It's vegan, organic, and macrobiotic, though, so even if it's bland, you're still doing your body a world of good. It's all-you-can-eat, so when the food is good, you'll probably want to go back for seconds.

Parking is tight, so you may have to park on the street.

Casa de Luz isn't just a restaurant, but a center for integral studies, so the actual restaurant may not be readily apparent when you approach the front of their property. Just follow the little brick path until you get to the end - that's the restaurant.

When you get inside, pay the cashier on your right, and that will get you a token to give to the cooks on your left. While they're dishing up your entree, you can get a plate and grab some salad, vegetables, or anything else they have out for you to pick and choose. There's also plenty of water and tea, and by the time you're done getting all that, your plate should be ready.
