California concept restaurant, with labeled vegan options

Mill Valley Kitchen is a new restaurant and bar featuring Northern California inspired cuisine served in a comfortable and refined setting. We use fresh, local and sustainably sourced ingredients to create our menu, and we include nutritional information for each menu item. Our light and flavorful cuisine is designed to enhance the healthy lifestyles of our guests.

Our wine list features great by-the-glass and bottle selections from Napa, Sonoma, and other regions of California, as well as outstanding wines from OR and WA. Many of our wines have connections to Minnesota through the winery's owner and/or winemaker, and all are made with sustainable practices.

We also offer a variety of specialty cocktails and local craft beers. Non-alcoholic options include a unique and creative list of naturally refreshing drinks and smoothies.

We're open M-F at 11am for lunch and dinner, and 9am for breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. Our location is in St. Louis Park at the northwest corner of Excelsior Blvd. and France Ave. in the Ellipse building. Free valet parking is available during lunch and dinner, and there is ample parking available in the Ellipse parking lot directly behind our restaurant.

My husband and I REALLY like this restaurant. It has a number of (nicely labeled!) vegan options, and the staff all know what can and can't be done vegan (if not labeled vegan, that is). I love that all the dishes have nutrition information listed - it makes eating out and watching what you eat so much easier!

Some of our favorite things here: the vegetarian burger (vegan if you ask them to leave cheese off the side salad), the Rustic Three Bean salad (vegan sans parmesan), vegan chili (spicy & delicious), the smashed yukon (FINALLY some vegan mashed potatoes at a restaurant!), the coconut sweet potatoes, and the hummus & pita (although the pita is the star of that combo).

This is a great place to go if you want food that tastes healthy & fresh. The wine list is also good and has wines in all price ranges.

My only complaints: 1) I do wish they had another vegan entree other than the veggie burger, and 2) the only vegan dessert they ever have is fresh fruit. BORING!

Word to the wise: make a reservation. This place stays pretty busy from what I've been able to tell.
