Sweet Tomatoes

Boca Raton, Florida

All you can eat salad, soup, pasta and dessert buffet

Sweet Tomatoes is a one price "all you can eat" salad bar, including soups, baked goods (freshly baked breads and muffins), pasta and desserts. Unlimited portions of raw salad ingredients are great for vegans as well vegetarians. Non-vegetarian items available in the salad bar line are clearly marked as such. Of the half dozen or so soups available on any given day (which vary from week to week), about half are designated "vegetarian," and their ingredients are listed for the convenience of vegans. The soup bar also features vegan friendly baked potatoes and sweet potatoes. Baked goods include hot from the oven breads (whole grain available), muffins, focaccia and pizza. Also included are unlimited portions of three pastas, which are almost always vegetarian and usually include at least one vegan option. Unlimited coffee, tea and soft drinks are available at an extra charge; glasses for free ice water are available. Frozen yogurt (chocolate, vanilla or swirl), pudding and/or mousse and seasonal fresh fruit are also part of the inclusive buffet price. This location is daily from 11:00 am- 900 pm (Saturday and Sunday until 10:00 pm), and for Sunday brunch 9-11 am.

Daily offerings that offer variety to the standard menu can be viewed online at the location's website, which also provides nutritional information about the various menu items. Signing up for "Club Veg" online brings you e-mail updates about the weekly and bi-weekly specialty items and culinary themes, as well as printable coupons that reduce the already reasonable price by about 30%. "Buy one, get one free" coupons generally require the purchase of two beverages, so if you don't want to buy drinks, the discount coupons that don't require drink purchases may be a better deal.) There are discounted prices for kids and senior citizens that don't require a coupon (and can't be combined with coupons). No "doggie bags" are allowed. Take out is available by weight, and catering is available.

Usually one of the important differences between a cheap place to eat and an expensive one, is the quality or freshness of the ingredients. Cheaper places uses more cans or frozen products, expensive use fresher produce which costs more and without preservatives must be used quickly or thrown away.

Out of the half dozen or so locations I have been eating at Sweet Tomatoes 4 regularly over the past ten years. The pleasant appearance and tasty food seems equal ot all locations and the food is excellent, whether it is the fresh mostly WITHOUT mayonaise & other unhealthy additives large variety of salad fixings or the made from scratch homemade healthy soups. Ingredients are usually detailed and healthy like low-fat or the rare "non-vegetarian". For those who can afford it, the prices are a steal for what you get: about $8 for lunch and &11 for dinner at a series of hot and cold all-you-can-eat buffet counters.
