This place is a great place to go for no-nonsense, unpretentious, real food. No picking from different options crap here. Every day, they cook up some grains, greens, beans, and vegetables, as well as a salad, and they pack it onto a plate for you in either the "moderate" or "large" size. Both also come with a bowl of soup. It's slightly different each day, but you can count on what I just said -- grains, greens, veggies, beans, soup. It's always super-tasty. I mean, they do it right at Shangri-La.

The atmosphere of the place is kinda cafeteria-like. You go in and sit where you like. Someone will come over and you can order moderate or large, or if you're the kind of person who can't hack spices, they have a spice-free meal you can get. You can get up and grab yourself some self-serve hot tea or water at room temperature. You can hear the conversations of people sitting nearby. There will be people there sitting alone. Many people come here instead of cooking for delicious, healthy, hearty grub.

The cookies are nothing special, but if you are one of those people who don't like things that are too sweet, pick some up! They'll be right up your alley.
