Authentic Egyptian food, with falafel plates and salads, tahini dressings, pita bread, hummus, babaganoush, and mango drinks. Easy to eat vegan and get full.

When this restaurant first opened, it was FABULOUS, but took forever to get your order since everything was cooked from scratch when you ordered. Over the years, they begain catering more to the American taste and the authentic Egyptian flavors were fading. However, now it has a perfect mix of authentic recipes and flavors and those expected by the American clientel. Especially nice and inexpense lunch specials.

This restaurant has 8 or so vegetarian entrees and 5 or so that are vegan. They also have several vegan appetizers/side dishes. Some delicious vegan items that I've ordered are: Tabouli, Hummous, Freekah Soup, Falafel, Vegetable Shwarma. Entrees can also be made into pita sandwiches as well. One caveat: the spiced rice (side dish) which I was told was vegan, has bits of pasta in it. It's unknown whether this pasta contains eggs or is enriched, so use your own judgment there, or simply substitute french fries as I do. One of the owners is always present, so getting answers to veg questions is easy. As well, on Friday nights there is a spunky waitress named Kelly that is on staff who has answered every veg question I have with knowledge and confidence. The waitstaff is polite and friendly, and I've never once gotten a hint of attitude even when grilling them about vegan ingredients/dishes. The decor at this restaurant is very modest but clean, and the pricing is very fair. My vegetarian husband and my vegan self eat full, generous meals for around $25 combined. While this restaurant is not romantic or first date -worthy, it's definitely good, fresh veg food at a very reasonable price.
