I find that when I go and spend 114$ on a meal its up to the highest degree of standards. Fine dining is defined by the chefs passion and love for cooking. My girlfriend and I went to this restaurant for her 21st birthday because I was surely convinced that this place had that passion. On their website the pictures of the food are stunning. The location in Newburyport alone says enough about what degree of professionalism is to be expected. But unfortunately I was mistaken. We are both vegan, and had brought my two non-vegan family members along. I tried to show them that being vegan is a healthy lifestyle that doesn't sacrifice taste. It took 20 min for drinks. One of them was a glass of wine. How long does it take to open bottle of wine and pour it into a glass? The rest were smoothies, but if you only have one drink at a time being made it really doesnt make sense to offer it with a meal if you cant do it in a timely fashion? We then ate our appetizer, which wasnt very bad at all. In fact I was really hoping the rest would be just as good. But then after waiting an hour for our food I was starting to get upset. And then the food was terrible. My land and sea "special" was so salty it was nearly uneatable. My stomach hurt after all that salt thats how bad it was. My mothers roasted red pepper salad "special" had the core of the lettuce in it. And it hardly had anything to do with the roasted red pepper. The dish indicated that it would be served with spinach, which it was not. When my mom told the waitress this she told us the main chef was not in and that a sous chef had taken her place. I guess that explains why the chef couldn't properly prepare our "specials". She didn't even ask to take the dish off the bill even though it was clearly not what was advertised. My girlfriend was served last, even though it was her birthday. Im not sure why the management thought that it was ok to have a chef who didn't know the menu, 1 waitress who was there for one week, who was also training a new girl that same day. Completely absurd! And I had to pay for this "5" star meal. Clearly, no passion for food to be found here!!!
