Black Sheep Coal Fired Pizza in Twin Cities, Minnesota

The last time I tried to eat at Black Sheep, the waitress told me the crust was NOT vegan! I believe it she said it had both egg and dairy in it. If you go, double check with your server!!

I absolutely love Brasa! The food is delicious! They have a vegetarian menu; our waitress was very knowledgable about the food and checked with the kitchen if she didn't know about a particular item. I've had the rice and beans (SO good), crispy yuca, guacamole + chips, and fried plantains that melt in your mouth. The portions were perfect, as you can get small, medium, or large of any side you want, and the prices were fantastic. I definitely suggest trying this place out!

I'm not giving this place a rating since I didn't actually eat the food. Just FYI for vegans: The waiter informed me that neither the pita bread is vegan (whey and casein), nor the falafel (egg). The only things he told me were vegan were the dolmathes, salads, hummus, and 'vegie hash' without the cheese.

Tastes like homemade Indian food. This is definitely my favorite Indian restaurant in the Twin Cities.

Heartland in Twin Cities, Minnesota

This is some of the best vegan food I've ever had! (This is including gourmet vegan food in NYC and SF.) We called ahead to let them know we wanted the 3-course vegetarian meal made vegan. It was absolutely incredible. It's been a while so I can't remember everything, but we had a summer salad with edamame, heirloom tomato soup, and the most amazing cauliflower steak topped with hen-of-the-forest mushrooms and pesto that I can still taste! They also made us a chocolate ganache for dessert instead of just your regular sorbet. I highly, highly recommend Heartland.

Herkimer Pub & Brewery in Twin Cities, Minnesota

According to the waiter I had, there were only a couple vegan options - salads, a veggie sandwich (not burger), and pub pretzel. He said their sweet potato fries were drenched in buttermilk and that the tater tots were not vegan either (though he didn't state why). I had a vegetable sandwich which was ok - nothing fabulous, just vegetables on toast. Drinks were fine, atmosphere is fun, but I definitely will not be back for food.

I've had a beer braised seitan dish and the Korean BBQ mock duck tacos. They were both absolutely incredible and extremely flavorful!

Restaurant Alma in Twin Cities, Minnesota

Restaurant Alma was absolutely fantastic. They have a set three-course menu for vegans ($40/person) which is not on their website or regular menu. It includes salad, appetizer, and entree, in addition to the bread and olive oil they bring out before the meal. Salad: heirloom tomato & cucumber salad; appetizer: whole wheat spaghetti with adzuki beans; entree: mushrooms & sticky rice. We also got dessert - baked pear with agave and pear vanilla sorbet. The food was absolutely incredible and you could just tell they used high quality ingredients. I would compare Alma to Heartland as far as quality of food and thought put into creating vegan dishes. I highly recommend Restaurant Alma!

Solera in Twin Cities, Minnesota

My experience at Solera was incredible! The food was absolutely delicious and the service was impeccable. I called ahead to ask about vegan options, but when I got to the restaurant our waitress double checked everything (and it turned out there were a few more items that could be made vegan). The veggie paella was to die for. Absolutely decadent. I also tried the brussels sprouts and the papas y setas. I would seriously contemplate getting multiple servings of just the papas y setas next time; they were that good. Just make sure you let them know you're vegan so they can leave off the ham etc. I would definitely consider this one of the best restaurants in Minneapolis!

Fantastic food, but the slowest service ever. We had to wait forever to order, get our food, get refills, etc.

Be Raw Food and Juice in Dallas - Fort Worth, Texas

Be Raw is a fantastic restaurant! They had a pretty wide range of options, from tacos to pizza to juices. I got the pizza sampler plate which included two slices (each) of Greek, Margherita, and California pizza. The toppings were fresh, the 'crust' was fantastic, and the dressings were very flavorful. The brownie was also the MOST delicious raw dessert I think I've ever had. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the DFW area!

Best Thai in Dallas - Fort Worth, Texas

One of the best Thai restaurants in Dallas! They have a separate vegan menu - which is a rare gem in this part of the world. I'm not necessarily one for mock meats, but they have some delicious mock beef that has the perfect amount of crispiness to it. Lots of flavorful options and they are more than willing to rearrange dishes - you can add or subtract items from any dish. Wonderful service, too!

I've only had the spring rolls and pho - they were both delicious. Will go again to try an entree - the owner was there when I went and was really nice.

Crooked Tree Coffeehouse in Dallas - Fort Worth, Texas

Love this little coffeeshop - very quaint and homey feel. They still have a few vegan options (soy milk for drinks, a hummus sandwich, and some packaged cookies), but no more TC vegan cinnamon rolls.

D'Vegan in Dallas - Fort Worth, Texas

What a great mom and pop Vietnamese restaurant! It's located inside a small market in an inconspicuous little strip mall. D'Vegan has great options - spring rolls, pho, protein dishes, salads, and more. I thought the spring rolls and spicy lemongrass dish were delicious. Bonus - they have brown rice! Oh, and the prices are beyond reasonable. A must visit.

They don't have a plethora of options for vegans, but they have a couple solid choices. They have a breakfast/brunch dish called - You're So Vegan, which is tofu scramble, vegan sausage, beans, rice, salsa, vegan cheese, and tortillas. It's not the most imaginative of tofu scrambles, but it is pretty good.

One of my favorite restaurants in DFW. There are always plenty of vegan options and an amazingly delicious iced tamarind tea.

Pizza by Marco in Dallas - Fort Worth, Texas

Great vegan pizza options! They use vegan cheese and have several mock meat options (pepperoni, sausage, and hamburger, I believe). They now offer whole wheat as an option, as well. With all the toppings and whole wheat option it can be a little pricey, but it's definitely worth it.

Spiral Diner & Bakery in Dallas - Fort Worth, Texas

Hands down THE most fabulous restaurant in Dallas. BEST vegan nachos I've ever had, amazing McNut burgers, awesome strawberry cupcakes, something called a Deathstar Sundae (no words to describe it, you just have to try it), and a delicious delicious tofu club sandwich which you can get on some amazing spelt-quinoa bread.

The wait staff is awesome, too.

What a fun little store! They have all sorts of things: vegan cake mixes, hair color, and even mock seafood in the freezer. It's really really small, but they have a decent selection of items. I'm hoping they will get the chance to expand soon!

Whole Foods Market in Dallas - Fort Worth, Texas

This WF is probably the most vegan friendly WF in the metroplex - well this one and Lakewood. They always have multiple tofu/veg options in the prepared foods section (including the hot foods bar). Vegan pizza, burgers (there's one with pineapples - YUM), and teriyaki bowls are always available. Always a few dessert options - I usually have 2-4 options when it comes to cake. A great to eat or just have coffee - the coffee bar has several dairy free milk options. It's the only place in town I can get a latte made with almond milk. :)

Indoor and outdoor seating is available.

ZEN Sushi in Dallas - Fort Worth, Texas

I tried Zen for the first time yesterday and was pleasantly surprised with all the vegan options! They have a separate 'green' menu with asterisks for vegan items. I had the tofu lettuce wraps and the veggie roll. The wraps were fantastic. The tofu was lightly fried and mixed with sauteed onions and peppers - it was relatively spicy, but the lettuce balanced that out. This could have easily been a meal for one person instead of an appetizer. The veggie roll was ok - nothing special - avocado, carrot, asparagus, if I remember correctly. They did have quite a few other options (i.e., shiitake, avocado, beet, etc), so I would certainly be willing to go back and try other rolls. Overall, a win for the Bishop Arts District and Dallas vegans.

Zorba's Greek Cafe Plano in Dallas - Fort Worth, Texas

Great Greek food - and has in fact, gotten better. They have a great vegetarian platter and they will substitute the dairy items for vegan items. You would end up with falafels, pita, hummus, Greek potatoes, green beans & tomatoes, dolmas, and Greek salad. The lentil soup is pretty good, too.

This place is local and family owned, which is like a breath of fresh air in the 'burbs.
And, they consistently have amazing, amazing customer service.
