while in denver for a conference last october, i stumbled across the watercourse. having been to denver many times over the last 10 years, i was bummed i hadn't found it earlier. i've eaten at veggie restaurants from california to maine, from washington to florida and all points in between, and the watercourse is in my top 5 in the us. i'm off to denver again in a couple weeks for another meeting, and i'm already trying to plan as many meals at watercourse as possible. amazing breakfasts, and wonderful dinners. a+++++++++++

Great multi-ethnic food! mostly indian/middle eastern.

oh. and POLENTA FRIES. if you go there, and don't eat the polenta fries, you're insane. i wish i still lived close enough to make trips there. i'm totally craving the polenta fries. causal order-at-the-counter downstairs (with outdoor seating!) and more formal get-yer-order-taken upstairs. mmmmm goooood.

the BEST vegan scones i've ever had. always a must-stop when i'm in pdx. the cashew cookies are incredible, as well.

a true oasis for vegan baked goods.

vegan mezza platter. SO GOOOOOD.

it's a hole in the wall, and you'll most likely have to wait for a while to get a table, but don't let the looks fool you. the food is absolutely incredible, and the staff is quite friendly. frequented by the hip and not-so-hip alike. mmm good.

I had to rate Tube a 5 - a 10 for the kick-ass vegan ham and cheese sandwich I had, a 0 for the lame attitude of the staff. We showed up on a sunday evening, about 9, the place was empty and we asked if they were still serving food, to which they replied "yes" we proceeded to have about 8 folks show up, a good 5-6 of us ordered food, all of us had multiple drinks. After I paid the bill, the bartender pulled me aside and told me that "they really did a lot for us, and not to come in again expecting to get food on a busy night, becuase they lose money when people are eating, taking up space for people that could be sitting and drinking" of course, this was after I'd already paid and tipped. So, beware... the food is amazing, the service was adequate, the staff just plain sucked.

i've only been there for breakfast/brunch on the weekends (the only time i'm in slc...) but to that end, Sage's is absolutely incredible. everything is great. i highly recommend the crepes! and everything else, for that matter. great, friendly staff, good music, great atmosphere. a+

UPDATE: went for lunch last time i was in town, got the philly, with huge chunks of homemade seitan, on amazing bread. even better than brunch!!!
