They were there for me at some event or another (they're at a lot of them) when I realized with horror that the only cash on me was two ones and some coins. I got a veggie dog and danced around singing--err, well, not really, but my "heart" sang and danced. Really, I don't know where else in this town (other than that vending machine with the peanuts) you can get vegan convenience food for under three dollars, and City Dogs is more satisfying than that vending machine with the peanuts.
I went in for lunch--the owner was very kind, the food was tasty, the prices were great, but the written menu doesn't quite communicate what exactly the different dishes are, and my attempts to get a better spoken description were brushed away. Still, definitely my favorite vegan restaurant in SLC after that encounter.
First, the bad news: This place is very expensive. Expect to spend $15 - $25 per person.
The good news: The food is excellent, but I didn't wait that long before falling in love with the cozy atmosphere, excellent music, and the cute way all the menu items have "and love" at the end of the description of what's in them. I'm not alone; even at the hefty prices, there's always the soft babble of happy customers sharing pleasant conversations.
I didn't like what I ordered, which was some sort of nut burger. The restaurant itself was beautiful, and the food definitely seemed to have potential. The waiter was patient with my group even though we waited for quite a long time for the rest of our party to show.
I agree with the person below me; very limited and unsatisfying vegan options when I went in. I had the choice between a slice of chocolate cake and hummus platter that turned out to be bland. I ended up going to the raw foods place down the street.
