YUM! So far I've tried the chocolate chip cookie sandwich, biscuit with strawberry jam, and one of the donuts (maybe blueberry?) and everything was super good. They also serve Stumptown coffee. I guess I will find out just how dangerous vegan, soy-free, wheat-free desserts can be!
Although some of the items at Flourish can appear a bit pricey, they use such quality ingredients I think its worth it. 2 of my favorite items on the menu are actually smoothies, the Emerald and M-Moo Cacao + espresso. The Raw Beauty salad is heavenly and the Rueben & BLTA can't go wrong. This is a vegan restaurant that I feel pride in supporting because you can just tell the owner believes in what she is doing!
Chango has OK coffee and good vegan grilled cheese and gardein chicken sandwiches.
I really want to rate Cinnamon higher but the food is always "just ok." I love the idea behind the menu, the service is fair, its just kind of whatever all around. I've tried the daiya quesadilla with spinach, the carnitas veggie burrito, the empanadas, all of the tacos, the salmon entree, and the chicken fajitas, all on different occasions and nothing has blown my socks off. I want to support all veggie restaurants as much as possible so it really pains me not to rate it excellent. :(
Excellent, healthy food. No soy, no gluten, and a lot of raw. I have tried everything on the menu and always am faithful to the Asian Noodle Bowl (Pad Thai), the Mezze Platter, and the Madras Curry. Beware of the raw Chocolate Truffle cake! It is INTENSE (in a good way)!
Intimate and quaint with a fresh Mediterranean menu. Good date spot. All of the vegan items specified on the menu (which I always appreciate). Bring lots of cash and patience (there is usually a wait)...
I love Fix. They have almond AND soy milk which is nice. The only vegan food item that they carry (that I am aware of) are the Alternative Baking Company prepackaged cookies.
I've enjoyed a few meals here. The vegetarian pho, oyster mushroom baguette (minus the mayo), and tofu stew are all solid veggie choices. What was particularly memorable for me are the sauteed greens, spicy fries, and the coconut bread pudding (the only vegan dessert but a yummy one nonetheless)! The owner seems super friendly and I always like supporting good people trying to do good things!
Grassroots Kitchen is great! The people behind the counter work really hard and are always very friendly. I love their tossed taco salad and cuban burrito! Since they make it right in front of you there are tons of vegan/veggie options. The health store section is a bit pricey, even compared to Whole Foods, but convenient if you are in the South Pas area.
I went here once and was HAPPY! It is conveniently located next to MOCA not so convenient hours (something like weekdays 11-3). I got the secret sandwich which consisted of chickpeas, quinoa, and sauteed greens and was more delicious then it sounds! I also took a taste of the soyrizo wrap which was also tasty.
Millie's is a good spot to go for breakfast when you are with a friend who really wants a traditional diner style breakfast and you want more than fruit salad. They have vegan items specifically marked on the menu (which I always appreciate) and even make their own almond milk (and run it down to Naturewell). The Angel's Mess (scrambled tofu) was pretty darn good which I think I liked over the Chilaquiles (with vegan cheese no sour cream). I'll go back the next time I need to compromise with a meat eating buddy.
GREAT SMOOTHIES/JUICES! Friendly knowledgeable staff. My favs are:
The Ultimate Slimming + Avo, the French Toast, Liquid Lunch Box, & their crazy green shot (not on the menu but they have pics of people taking the shot when you enter). Intense but you'll live forever!
I always order the same thing when I come here. It is the pineapple jalapeño burger (vegan) which I think is a steal at $5 and quite tasty as well. I'm pretty sure the patty is a simple "Gardenburger Veggie Medley" patty but the pineapple and the jalapeño make it special. I love to add the greens on the side and get the spicy ginger lemon drink to wash it all down (not for the weak!). I tried to leave a tip on my togo order once and the girl said "thanks, but we don't accept tips." Crazy!
