Great service, huge portions, and the prices are unbelievably cheap. Went with my boyfriend, the two of us were very full and only spent $14! Great place
I went to this restaurant while on vacation on a recommendation from a friend, and let me tell you, it was every bit as wonderful as others are saying!! All of their dressings, sauces, beverages etc. are vegan; the only non-vegan thing on the menu is cheese, which can be added or removed from any dish. (They also have vegan cheese, so no worries.) I was so stuffed after leaving this place, and in a great way! Their desserts are to die for - we had a huge vanilla cupcake with vanilla frosting, strawberry filling, and a chocolate covered strawberry on top. A tad on the pricey side, but well worth it. Someone had even written in the bathroom stall, "This place is why I became vegan. Thanks. Best choice I ever made :) " I think that about sums it up...
Very knowledgeable staff, answered all of my questions regarding what was vegan on the menu. Plenty of options for me, rich, spicy food, a bit oily but overall wonderful, and can't wait to go there again!
I LOVED the cream cheese wontons and the fact that there was a separate menu for vegan food, which made ordering very easy. I had the fresh tofu with vegetables and black mushrooms, which was tasty. Also, vegan food is cooked in a separate wok, which I appreciate. Decent prices, the waiter could have been more attentive as far as refilling beverages, but it was also a Gophers game day, and the restaurant was pretty busy. I'd definitely go back!
Many vegan options, very large portions, inexpensive, and delicious. Very friendly and helpful staff, and it is always great for me to find another vegan place in St. Paul, as our options are not quite as extensive as those for Minneapolis residents.
Tons of vegan options, and the menu even denotes which items can and cannot be made vegan. Love their vegan spring rolls and 3 cup tofu. The only thing I am not a huge fan of is the location itself - it kind of reminds me of a hospital cafeteria, windowless and in a basement (I realize that hospital cafeterias are not typically in basements, but for some reason this place has that feel to it), but the food is so delicious it makes up for that.
I set up an appointment for a consultation with Chad. I had been planning a tattoo for nearly the past year to commemorate my 5 years as a vegetarian/vegan, and I was really excited. After meeting Chad, who initially seemed very cool and chill, I told him that I was vegan and that was the reason for the tattoo. That is all I said, and he went into this long rant that began with, "Honey, you are the total opposite of me!" He proceeded to talk about how he ate a steak sandwich during the movie "Food, Inc." and how he grew up on a farm and killing animals was normal to him. This rant went on for a long time before he finally asked what I wanted. I told him I wanted a small farm animal, a piglet, with text underneath. After asking me how to spell "Earthlings" 3 or 4 times, he wrote the phrase out under a drawing of a pig, and I said that's what I wanted. However, then he said, "If you are going to do this, you should go all out." I let him know that's really all I wanted, something small, and it has to be easily concealed due to the nature of my work. Every time I said anything, he looked at me as though I had asked for an obscenity to be tattooed across my face or something. He said he had an idea and grabbed a pad of paper, which made me feel better because I thought maybe he was going to be helpful. He then scribbled something I couldn't decipher, and said I should get a pig with broccoli around it, with a banner underneath, in addition to the text. I said I didn't really want broccoli tattooed on me to which he smirked, "You won't get broccoli tattooed on you...but you'll get a pig?!" Finally, I had had enough and walked out, telling him I did not like his condescending attitude and that I would be going elsewhere. He did say, "Wait," but honestly, I was done.
I should note that I have never walked out of any business before. My friends and family were shocked when I told them because it takes A LOT to bother me. Chad's attitude and rudeness completely turned me off of this place though. All I wanted was a tattoo, not to have someone judge me.
Excellent breakfast choices, can't wait to go back! Had the vegan blueberry pancakes, and I am looking forward to trying everyone's recommendations.
Their vegan cheesecake is to die for! I ate it with an omnivore who couldn't believe how delicious it was
Fun place, kind of a 70's punk atmosphere, grungy, loud, probably not the kind of place for a "first date" or anything like that, but they have good prices, great food, and an interesting clientele. I love that, as a vegan, I can eat pretty much anything from the menu. Remember to bring cash! I had the seitan gyro which was delicious, as well as a vegan brownie. Light and fluffy, perfect for a chocolate lover such as myself.
The Jasmine Crepe was delicious, and the sea salt and pepper tofu is every bit as great as people say. Knowledgeable and friendly staff and numerous vegan options.
Their burritos are HUGE! Their food tastes very fresh and wonderful. Normally it is difficult for me to eat at Mexican restaurants, but their refried beans are vegan; I had a burrito with beans, rice, lettuce, and tomato, with salsa on the side. They also offer avocado. Their chips were homemade and hot, and I will definitely be going back again. The place is a bit "hole in the wall" and a cleaner bathroom would be nice, but for food, you can't beat it. Way better than Qdoba or Chipotle.
We had the Lil' Gracie with rinotta "cheese." I thought it was delicious, parking in this area is great, would go again.
Love the "macos," pretty spicy (at least for me, as I am still getting used to spicy foods), it's a bar, but the food is definitely much higher quality than your standard bar fare. Last time I went, service was lacking (had to flag down the waiter to refill our water glasses), but I have been here a handful of times now and plan to go back.
Went there with coworkers recently, loved it so much I went back the following week! I had the cold tofu with sesame sauce, was delicious!! Portions are good sized, food is very inexpensive, staff is wonderful, will definitely be going back in the near future
As a vegan living in St. Paul, I oftentimes am envious of all of the wonderful vegan options in neighboring Minneapolis. It is great to have a vegan friendly pizza place so close to where I live (northern part of St. Paul) that even offers free delivery. I had the "berkeley soy cheese veggie" (which is actually made with daiya, no casein) with whole wheat crust, and I was VERY impressed with it! I have always loved pizza, and had been slightly missing cheese pizza lately, and this really hit the spot. I also had a California salad, and the greens were really fresh and tasty. I will definitely be ordering from this place again!!
I went to lunch with two omnivores, and they let me pick the place. I was pleased to have a great deal of options to choose from. I went with the vegan french toast, which was delicious. Very busy place, cool atmosphere, will go back next time I am in Madison.
I am SUPER thrilled that Larsen's has kringles that I can eat, as I grew up loving their kringles (before I went vegan.) They taste exactly as I remember. The vegan kringles come in cherry, pecan, almond, raspberry, and apple. I ordered an apple and a cherry kringle, and I had to stop myself from eating a whole one by myself! They are $5 each and are smaller than regular kringles. I was going into town so I emailed the business and was told that they would have some fresh kringles made for me when I got into town. Their staff is super friendly and helpful. I wish I lived closer so I could enjoy these more often!!
I love this place! I went twice in three days, and the first time I had a sandwich called "The Vegan," which my non-vegan friend tried and loved as well. The second time I had the Deluxe Hummus, which I will definitely have next time. They make their own hummus and it comes with peppers, pita bread, cucumbers, celery... it is a large plate and filling enough to be a meal. Good prices, cool atmosphere as well.
