Veggie burgers were from a box... although they were vegan (gardenburger) the gross bleached bun they came on was bigger then they were by 400%. Also they put cheese on my veggie burger the first time around even though I asked for it without and it doesn't automatically come with it. The waitress acted like she was high, and the peppers, onions, tomatoes and mushrooms I put on it were so greasy they were brown not "fresh".
Lots of vegan foods and a great bulk foods section.
Awesome atmosphere and huge on the inside compared to how small it looks from the outside. Minimal outdoor seating. The staff is super friendly and pretty much know everything there is to know about beer and food:) Not a lot of vegan options, but what they do have is done well, like the black bean burger is home-made not that from a box crap:)
I had the eggplant & tofu sandwich, and while i have realized since visiting Savannah that "being vegan" has not yet been done really good in this city... the sandwich was grilled well and the ingredients were fresh. Firefly was the best I had in Savannah over the course of the week.
The outdoor seating was right in front of a really pretty square with a view:)
Disappointed that there was no coffee at this "kafe". They used the silken tofu for the dishes... which is not the kind you should cook like that with. Not great, just mediocre. Again the staff acted like they were high and by that I mean lousy service.
Really Really good vegan pizza. These guys get it they were super with service, had great seating outside, and were timely with our order. Also you can build your own pizza but make sure you ask for it "vegan" (since they usually put butter on the crust) also the pesto has parmesan cheese in it so stick to the red pizza sauce. Your server will know how to make it for you as long as you tell him you want it vegan though. Although they don't have vegan cheese I didn't miss it and actually prefer my vegan pizza without cheese now. They have tons of toppings including tofu, bbq tofu and tempeh.
Very pretty presentation and the staff was very attentive. Nice atmosphere, but a little skimpy on the outdoor seating. The tofu was bland (just not cooked well) but the curry sauce was really good and you can order it in different heat degrees (go for more heat then you usually get at thai places cause it's a little weak). The veggies in the dish were prepared well too. Pretty small portions though me an my boyfriend ended up getting pizza later in the night at The Mellow Mushroom.
The food is NOT good. The tofu in our tofu scramblers was watery, mushy and very pale. Also there are more things to put in a scrambler then frozen spinach (was soggy and cool) and greasy onions. Like I said in other Savannah posts, the city doesn't do vegan food well... the food is what I imagine vegan food would have been like in the 60's. The coffee was alright, the soy lattes were alright (tasted burned) but the smoothies were awesome! I had the peanut butter and banana one and it rocked!
They offer tofu! They are just like any other burrito joint except tofu is normal here. They give you free chips and salsa too (5 different kinds of salsa and it's unlimited) The guac was freshly made too not from a bag. The burritos were really well made and they only have black beans (so no lard to worry about like with pinto). They have a vegetarian burrito, fajita, and nachos, plus they are all vegan if you don't put cheese and sour cream on them. They make it all right in front of you so you don't have to worry. Plus they have a lot more toppings for the burritos you don't have to pay for like extra tomatoes, peppers and olives!
Lot's of Choices! Practically EVERYTHING is or can be made vegan. It was almost overwhelming to be able to order anything off the menu but sooo nice:) The home-made black bean burger was served with a yummy and creamy sauce on it plus mozzarella soy cheeze. The raw nachos we had for the appetizer wesn't very good so for raw food I would rate them lower but the vegan food was perfect I was with 3 other people one of which was a meat-eater and we all loved our meals.
More of an upscale looking atmosphere then most vegan restaurants which was awesome. I was surprised by the amount of variety too, everything was vegan so it was hard to pick just one meal:) They also don't use refined sugar and flour which I also loved.
I had the Jerk Tofu Wrap which was the best wrap I have ever had. It was spicy and hot plus the tofu was cooked perfectly even blacked dirty south style:) It was a tomato wrap with good romaine lettuce and good ripe tomatoes and a creamy sauce absolutely perfect! The other 3 people I was with all loved their food too and one was a meat-eater (they got the pizza and lasagna). I must say though the desert was pretty bland and not the best texture (I had the blueberry cheesecake) they looked way better then they tasted. My advice... get a bigger appetizer and skip dessert.
Small Cafe, very busy, good staff.
We had to wait for a table for about 5 minutes which I wasn't excepting since it's just a little cafe but it must be loved by a lot of people! The soy latte I had was good, and the hummus with pita bread and veggies was really fresh and tasty too. I ordered the vegan burger and was a little disappointed when I got a warmed up one from a box (Gardenburger brand I think) but it was still good cause they used a yummy grilled & fresh rye bread and put hummus, grilled mushrooms and peppers on it. Plus I liked that you could get fresh fruit as the side instead of chips.
I actually liked my veggie burger here so much the first day I was in the Chicago area I went back for lunch the day after. The veggie burger was made of mostly squash so it was mushier, and if your vegan like me you have to omit the mayo. The french fries were good too a little more unique then most places. I would have given them a 5 star but I have a peeve about waitresses that don't write down your order and then get it wrong (mayo was put on my veggie burger the first time when i asked to have it omitted). Over all though the wait staff was super friendly and the atmosphere is really trendy with a lot of large windows for sunlight and located in a really cute downtown specialty shop area.
I actually had the tofu scrambler the second time and it was even better, tofu could have been cooked a little longer and actually scrambled instead of cubed but the peppers, onions and tomatoes were perfectly grilled and still very good over all. I highly recommend to vegans but keep in mind besides these two things and the soup of the day that was lentil not much else can be made vegan.
Lots of specialty vegan food in the freezer, bakery, deli. They also have a salad bar and hot dish bar with vegan food clearly labled. Friendly good atmophere.
Good falafel sandwich and good babaganoush
I would say bad service but no service is more like it. The goth employees are too cool to take orders and the vegan soy cheese pizza is just dumped together. Nothing special or good save your money it would be better spent on a frozen pizza then going here.
Black bean burger had whole beans held together with a batter... very bland. Sweet potato fries were bland also but baked so healthie
r then fried. The r b q with setian was yummy and a lot more flavorful and spicy better atmosphere and service then food.
Everything vegan you could want in a grocery store. Tons of wine. Tons of different kinds of hummus and every unique specialty food you could want.
Good smoothies but kinda bland espresso drinks. Lots of vegan bakery and clearly marked which were vegan which was about 90% hard to find its in the basement on the side of a larger building with other shops in it.
The lunch buffet was 80% was vegetarian & most of that was vegan. Big variety the pakora was yummy but thr nann could have been fresher plus it was very "heavy". Two kinds of rice to pick from & about 5 different sauces each spiced differntly from mild to very hot. The coffee is reaally bad do not order:) The service is very friendly & fast to clear your used plates for the buffet. If you pay in cash you get a discount. Buffet costs $8.50 a person.
Decent indian food with an unexpected amount of veggie/vegan options in this little town.
There is nothing vegan or even very vegetarian about this place except for a salad... don't even know why this place is listed on this website it should be removed!!
Very interesting and tasty twist on a tofu scrambler... its a tofu slammer with hash browns beans tofu and tempeh bacon. Very old school diner atmosphere and while the tofu was a little bland the beans and tempeh bacon were spicy and made up for it.
The server was dirty (hair and hands) seriously! The food was gross and made all our stomachs hurt within a few hours. The guacamole was runny and bland while the salsa was so hot we couldn't eat it. The dehydrated food like the chips and bread was stale tasting and beware of the lentil "meat" it left an awful after taste in my mouth for days I could not brush my teeth enough!
The only good thing was that they are very eco-friendly and the atmosphere is cozy and clean.
Really fresh tasting ingredients made the organic veggie pizza something to go back for. While there vegan cheese (Teese brand) isn't the best I've ever had, it was still good especially since they loaded on the other toppings like the mushrooms and peppers. The mock chicken was really icky though so I would never have that on my pizza again and the crust is ok but nothing special, although the vegan garlic cheese bread was super good. I loved that we could order just about everything vegan.
The vegan cheesecake was some of the best I've ever had, and our server was super polite and friendly and when you get a waiter like that everything tastes better:)
Fabulous! Fresh baked pizza and fun relaxing outdoor atmosphere. Great upstairs patio with lots of big screen tv's for watching football games. Huge beer selection with a lot of local brews. They load on lots of vegan soy cheese and the jerk tofu topping was a really good and really unique option. Mellow Mushroom restaurants are all over down south especially in Kentucky and Tennessee and they are my go to place for good food when I can't find anything else.
Lots of vegan options and everything is made fresh. They offer a soy vegan cheese and tofu for their pizzas and sandwiches. Very nice outdoor patio with lots of street musicians during the lunch hour.
Bar setting with lots of tv's mostly sports playing and a large & loud college age crowd. Excellent vegan tofu bbq nachos... they're worth the cramped space.
Amazing fresh food! I had a grilled sandwich with a vegan homemade patty and vegan cheese, tomato, avocado, sprouts and veganaise. It was on really fresh whole grain bread and grilled perfectly. I'd say about half the menu is vegan or can be made vegan and they also have bakery and espresso drinks. It's located in a converted house that's very clean and comfortable.
Not a lot of vegan options but a lot could be made vegan. I had the artichoke panini without the mayo and cheese. So it had artichoke, spinach and tomato on it and the bread was a good hearty whole grain which was nice. Panini's come with potato chips and a pickle and they do soy... the latte was good too.
Not a dinner place more like a quick lunch spot. Friendly staff, clean and trendy decor. Lots of seating and live music in the evenings.
Cafe serves a variety of pressed-to-order organic veggie juices and fruit smoothies as well as a wide variety of raw and natural food main courses including pastas, lasagnas, sandwiches, Panini’s, wraps, a soup of the day, salads, baked goods and desserts. Soon they will include a tea bar and organic coffees.
The cafe closes an hour earlier then the grocery store... it's only open till 5pm and it's only small cafe style seating, mostly pick-up and go style although their are a few small 2 person tables.
Homemade veggie burger (7oz.) $8.25
Special blend of veggies, seeds, nuts and seasonings served with romaine lettuce, fresh tomato (organic) and now served on a ciabatta roll (instead of a plain white bun).
You can now add (Follow Your Heart) vegan soy cheese to it also!
Plus... instead of just fries as a side you can get a very creamy & yummy side of hummus/veggies:)
CHEERS to them for upgrading this already delish menu item!
P.S. you can do the soy cheese on all their pizzas too:)
PERFECT! It's our favorite place to go up there now. Plus I must say it's my new favorite restaurant because of the veggie burgers and the awesome and the staff is fabulous!
I had the Falafel Bake wrap it was alright but I've had better. Trendy little coffee shop in the downtown historic part of the city. I had a really nasty smoothie that I only drank one sip of though, tasted like a powder mix even though it said "real fruit smoothie" don't believe them... I guess at one time it may have been real fruit but not by the time it reached my glass:)
They had bakery too, the peanut butter rice crispy treat (This was unusual and actually really good) said vegan on it and the bakery and menu items that were vegan were marked accordingly.
Nothing special but there are vegan and veggie options of plenty on the menu which is nice to see in cheesehead town!
Some vegan menu items clearly listed on menu, other items can be made vegan by omitting cheese. Cute little hippie place that also serves beer and wine, yay!
Get the Vegan Wrap (served all day)
Pinto beans, organic tofu, soy cheddar cheese, black olives, green bell peppers, and sweet red onions, whole wheat tortilla. served withe a side of salsa. only $7.50
(full menu on website)
BEST Raw food ever! Not super heavy on the nuts like most raw food restaurants. Just really creative and yummy food. Make sure to look at all the pics I uploaded and their captions to see how awesome they look! Great atmosphere too not "hippie" like most, very classy and well decorated and designed. Very friendly and prices were pretty average for raw food, but you got more then your money's worth. Great date place.
We ordered the grilled vegetable salad without the goat cheese to make it vegan then requested additional veggies on it (artichoke, kalamata olives & asparagus) since they are listed as options for the create-your-own omelet and they accommodated us. We also ordered a side of the simple potatoes and they were baby reds brushed with olive oil and pan fried with rosemary which was also very good. If your just vegetarian there is lots for you as this menu is half egg based... but vegans you will have to omit ingredients like the portobello sandwich's mayo and cheese but like I said they were VERY accommodating. I thought it was cool they had packets of stevia sweetener at the tables and the decor was very modern and trendy. Overall the ingredients were fresh and everything was prepared very well but it's not anything I haven't had before... but this was the ONLY place that even came close to being a veg-friendly restaurant in Lake Geneva.
Has some vegan veggie burgers... all from a frozen foods box though, not homemade. Just ok, if you like frozen food but are too lazy to go to the grocery store and make it on your own oven then go here but nothing special. If your vegan ask about EVERY ingredient even the bread. Owner works there and is very friendly/accommodating which is a plus.
Ordered some of the raw vegan snacks from here over in web. Small portions but good quality. The raw Oreo cookies were fab!!
In the cafe though it's inconsistent with their food. The dehydrated crackers were not good very bland & not crispy but the bread was actually some of the best raw bread I've had. It was moist and had a nice texture and flavor to it. The raw lasagna was good (marinated mushrooms and zucchini) but the raw pesto noodle dish was actually nasty and too hard & dry to taste like noodles. The deserts were awesome we had the raspberry pie & the chocolate nut cake, both were worth coming back for and were very fresh tasting and not too sweet. Over all I would stop here again if ever in the area but wouldn't go out of my way for it since the stuff you can order online tasted better overall.
VERY VERY good coffee drinks... has soy. I had a good soup there one day, but besides the normal granola, fruit, sometimes vegan bakery, I've NEVER seen any other food served there... don't know where the food description above came from?? Also the pic on here is NOT of Anodyne, I would know I live a couple blocks away. But besides those issues it's a very cool coffee house but not a place for food.
Very friendly, will give you samples and they have about 4-5 soy ice creams at a time that they rotate out. Nothing you can't buy at the grocery store though... and personally i'd rather have a pint of coconut ice cream instead.
Really good vegan breakfast! Their tofu scrambler was really good they really know how to use and cook tofu. The rosemary potatoes are also a really nice change from your standard hash browns at other places and come with the scrambler. The white and rye bread is vegan the wheat is not... ask for the vegan butter too. I just told our waiter that i was vegan and he adjusted my order accordingly, he knew what he was doing.
The veggie burgers are good not home-made but good and you can put lots of toppings on like peppers, onions and tomatoes so they makes them taste better then the standard boxed veggie burger that they are. Don't except anything special when it comes to the staff, they are as boring and uncaring as the staff at a McD's. Nice outdoor seating and they were timely with the order and everything tasted good. The waffle fries and sweet potato fries were a pleasant surprise.
Not bad but they don't speak english well so it's hard to get an item vegan if your not already sure it comes that way. Very unpredictable as to weather your order will have cream in it. I do not recommend this place to vegans.
Their chips and salsa was really good, and so was the guac. They have a vegetarian section just beware of the cheese. Pretty much the same deal as any other mexican restaurant though.
Amazing fresh salsa and whole grain chips!! The restaurant super small, gotta get there before 4 o' clock to get one of the 5 tables but they have a bar to wait at. Very cute atmosphere and we loved all the skulls and hearts around the place.
The margaritas were all really good & strong. Only thing I didn't like was that they don't do guacamole all the time (only when avocados are in season) but I guess that's a good thing as far as quality goes. The quesadillas we had were soy cheese and soy chorizo and another was soy cheese and veggies both were amazing! They also have tacos and burritos on the menu and a soup of the day. Pretty small menu but the quality is superior!!
Great modern eco-friendly atmosphere. Very knowledgeable, friendly and professional staff. The best veggie burger ever! Have the Spicy Jamaican Lentil Burger, it's home made, grilled on really good bread and super big plus it comes with grilled veggies which are the best grilled veggies I've ever had. They are all vegetarian, and they have vegan, raw food, and gluten-free menu items clearly marked on their menu and at least one of each in every section (apps, entrees, sandwiches, salads, deserts). I have always loved everything here and they do a different soup every day along with specials. No worries here, they will accommodate special requests.
Really awesome salads... we had the Middle Eastern Artichoke one it had amazing spices and yummy olives served cool. We also tried the Indian spice Cauliflower salad it had peas and onions and was baked served warm. Both were really good and everyone here is super friendly and helpful all items are labeled vegan or gluten free and there is "build your own" panini. Really warm cozy atmosphere and the food smells as amazing as it looks and tastes.
Cheap but really good vegetarian buffet Mon.-Sat. and they have tons of variety to choose from. Only two things weren't vegan when I went last, and it was easy to tell which were and were not. The lentil soup is really good, as are the falafel's and even the rice is unusually good here too. They have floor to ceiling windows that they open up in the summer it's a really nice touch, like having a patio throughout the whole restaurant. Go early, they get busy on Sat.
ALL VEGAN!! Super good bakery, muffins, cookies, bread, cakes and pies. If you have a sweet tooth and don't mind a LOT of sugar you'll be in heaven. Don't come looking for healthy bakery though , you could get fat on this stuff and still stay vegan:)
Really good asian stir fry tons of well labeled vegan items in the buffet bar for you to mix up your own bowl. They even have a special stick for your food dish if you want your vegan dinner cooked separately from the meat eaters. It was super busy when we went on a Saturday night and service was very slow... even though it's buffet style to make your food you have to wait for the cooks and waitstaff to bring it out to you. Students get a $2 discount with ID.
They have all the hard to find vegan specialty products plus a nice bulk food section.
Since they serve vegan food I found it insulting to put dead animals on the wall... maybe they are trying to be funny? I actually think the idea of the restaurant is to try to get vegans to be less vegan... (I'll explain) Attempting to desensitize vegans by having them eat around dead/stuffed and mounted animals and make them order the chicken salad sandwich (vegan style) or the pork shank sandwich (vegan style) instead of saying the seitan or tofu sandwich. I felt like the restaurant is set up as a mockery of being vegan. The food was good though and the staff was friendly, just not a lot of variety... after all there are more vegan soups then just vegetable and thats the one they serve. Perfect example of how it's hard to "successfully" cater to meat eaters and vegans in the same restaurant.
Although the breakfast was better then the lunch you've got about 5 menu items to choose from if your vegan, the soy lattes are delish and served in pint glasses plus they use Anodyne Coffee which is the best coffee ever!
Best variety of vegan indian food in milwaukee buffet is kept well stocked 7 days a week.
Perfect Vegan Pizza! Really good vegan mozzarella cheese pizza with any toppings you want. They will also make the cheesy garlic bread vegan for you and it's really good but I would save my appetite next time for a larger pizza instead because the crust is really good and unlike Transfer and Olive Pitt they aren't stingy with the vegan cheese. Very ma and pop wisconsin bar atmosphere and when it's busy even the "non smoking" section is super smoky. Very sweet wait staff though and even the cook popped his head out of the kitchen to ask us how we liked the pizza. A+!!
Dan's Vegan Pizza is the best pizza I've had in Milwaukee!! Good selection of toppings, not the usual greasy pizza, just fresh and good. Fun atmosphere and friendly staff.
We loved the Tofu Jambalaya! It was blackened tofu which was done really well. It was spicy and hot and a little sweet at the end, they nailed vegan southern comfort food with this entree. We just got back from New Orleans so it was perfect timing to compare the food. The Cajun fries are super good also just skip the sauce, they serve it with cajun mayo.
Largest variety of veggie food I've seen at an indian restaurants brunch buffet:) Nice variety and all the food was hot & fresh plus the servers were really good about keeping everything full.
Cute place and friendly staff, but they don't have many vegan options at all! They also don't cook tofu well:(
The portions are very very small compared to the price tag on them.
Best grocery store, no long lines plus they have a lot of cafe menu items that are vegan. I love the curry tofu burrito it's fabulous!
Great place to buy pre-made vegan potato salad, eggless egg salad and thai peanut noodle dishes. They also have a wide selection of vegan cheese, frozen food, cookies, crackers, chips and granola. They also sell a few raw food items like Lara Bars.
Very smokey yuck! But they have an outdoor patio in the summer yay! They do tofu wings really well and they give you a ton for your money. Plus they have a vegan ranch! The side dishes that come with the meals are really cool too like sweet potato with pecans, okra and tatter tots. TONS of vegan menu items clearly marked. Just about everything a vegan could want they have it here and they make it all really well.
Really good vegan food, clearly marked on the menu and soy lattes are really good here too. They also offer soy milk creamer for coffee in the dining area, along with free refills of coffee. Very mom and pop and only about 4 tables inside (small place) but they have a patio in the summer too. Good vegan breakfast and you'll find all the hard to find vegan grocery items in the store attached to the diner.
Fun little place, reminds me of the old custard stands we used to have more of in Milwaukee. Great patio and the food is what you expect from an Indian restaurant, all the standards that are usually vegan are vegan here and the guy who runs it is really nice.
Loved the sleek modern atmosphere inside and the patio was surprisingly large for Milwaukee. Really great waitress Saturday for lunch. The portabella fries for an app. came with this really unique and tasty asian sesame dipping sauce and was perfect for two. We had the vegan black bean burger with vegan cheese (cheddar style) and a really creamy vegan mayo. The burger itself was pretty thick and grilled well (I think it could have used a little more spice) it also had avocado on it which was unique but I wasn't crazy about it. The bun was really plain and boring and I would prolly try their pretzel bun next time instead. Meal came with a stack of thick cut fries that were better then average and weren't over done... there were prolly only 8 fries total but that was plenty.
good tofu wings, but nothing exceptional on the menu. Some interesting items but they weren't good enough I'd go back. You get better food and a wider selection for vegans at palomino's.
Best Thai food I've ever had! Plus the waitress spoke english a huge plus when you want to order a vegan dish from a Thai restaurant. You must ask for every dish without the fish sauce! I also ask for it without the MSG cause they use that too. The curries are fabulous! Good portions sizes and they are pretty cheap, you can also do take-out. Kind of a hokey, dinky restaurant, but it's on the eastside so it doesn't matter:)
We've wanted to try classic slice for a while but I can't see buying a pizza there when they say they do vegan pizzas but don't have any vegan cheese. If that were the case most the pizza places in Milwaukee have a "vegan" pizza. So we went to Transfer and wow they had a live samba band playing, full far with $5 margaritas and mojitos, and vegan cheese. We built our pizza with the vegan cheese of course, mushrooms, artichokes, and peppers. The waiter was good and really hauling ass to please customers which is always nice to see. we paid $20 for the large pizza and I would have paid more it was so good:) The crust was one of my favorite parts and it's usually something that is totally overlooked. It was a light crispy and airy crust throughout but puffy and more bread-like on the edges a perfect mix in one pizza. The sauce tasted fresh, and the ingredients were applied very liberally. The vegan cheese was a feta cheese consistency unlike Olive Pit which does a melty gooey vegan cheese. It would be hard for me to pick a favorite I think it will just depend on what were in the mood for as far as how we pick which one to go to in the future. Oh the atmosphere too... the Olive Pit is quite and you can sit and chat and at Transfer it's loud live music so both are great depending on which you want that night.
This is the place to go for fast fried american/indian food. The usual indian food items are vegan... falafel, hummus, fries...
Really good healthy food! The fresh homemade salad dressings were AMAZING! I had a raspberry vinaigrette that was so creamy and fruity plus best of all most the items in the buffet were raw and all were vegan. They have really good coffee and tea with soy creamer available and all the food is organic. They also had 3 varieties of raw cookies and 3 different soups plus a veggie sushi and 2 different coleslaw type salads.
Very high quality and only $8 for all you can eat buffet. Super cute and cozy atmosphere but very limited seating and hours so get there early.
Simply AMAZING food! This restaurant is on a small island and even though the 4 other bars on the main st. serve a veggie burger & fries Fiddler's Green served fresh & creative vegetarian food that rivals even some of the best Milwaukee veggie menu options:)
We tried almost everything because our build-your-own panini's were sooo good! They were grilled perfectly with spinach, roasted red pepper and hummus and came with a fresh mango salsa as a side. We also had the baked beans & soda bread that were also fabulous along with a roasted garlic clove as a spread for the freshly baked bread. Plus we split a soup of the day that was the BEST roasted pepper tomato bisque I've ever had, all the food was awesome and then to spoil us even more they offer a dark chocolate fondue with fresh fruit which was a really nice surprise!
Absolutely LOVED that they had a separate vegan menu... lots of choices here from breakfast food to the chimichanga I ordered that was pure amazing awesomeness! All the veggies were fresh and the tofu was nicely grilled, plus they had vegan cheese for the sauce on top.
Huge portions too so be ready to ask for a doggy bag. My only issue here is that even though the staff is super friendly most don't speak english well I heard they were here in the US on work visa's (I think they're Russian?)
