I've been vegan for the past eight years and vegetarian for most of my life. I spent four years of college as president of the University of Chicago Vegan Society and volunteering for Protecting Animals - USA. More recently, I founded the NH/VT Vegan Meetup Group, as well as the Dartmouth Graduate Vegetarians and Vegans.
I started writing restaurant reviews for VegGuide back in 2004, in part because there was a review-writing contest going on at the time and I wanted to win a free cookbook. I've been hooked ever since. I love desserts (especially chocolate desserts) so I tend to give slightly lower ratings to restaurants that don't have vegan desserts.
In real life, I'm a graduate student at Dartmouth, working on a PhD in math.
