Grasshopper is one of the best restaurants I have ever visited. The service was amazing (though we came at an odd hour so it wasn't crowded). The menu is huge and neither my boyfriend nor I was used to having so many options!
My boyfriend got sweet and sour tofu which was amazing. The tofu came with a very thick coating of some kind of bread (think corn dog with tofu center). I got a seitan dish that was also quite good. We shared spring rolls that were fantastic and not too greasy. I don't usually like green tea, but the tea they brought to the table was perfect.
This should be anyone's first choice for restaurants in Boston.
My boyfriend and I visited My Thai and both thought that the food was alright but definitely didn't warrant the prices charged. The service was mediocre, even though we were the only ones there!
Neither of our meals was particularly interesting or spicy, which we expected from Thai food. I got a seitan dish and the seitan was good, but his tofu dish was nothing special.
The only memorable item we had was a piece of cake from the bakery case-one piece is expensive but more than enough for two people. It was one of the best vegan cakes I've ever had.
With My Thai, I'd eat dinner somewhere else and only come for the cake!
My boyfriend and I went here twice on our trip to Boston. The first night we shared a pizza and a milkshake and both were fantastic, with the shake being thinner than expected but good. The service the first night was great, with the worker being very friendly and helpful.
The second night I had a chicken salad wrap and he had a buffalo chicken sandwich. Neither was spectacular and both were quite dry and bland. The sweet potato fries were undercooked. Worst of all that second night, the workers were extremely unfriendly and acted like we were harshing their mellow or something. We were told the place was a worker owned cooperative, so I thought they should have been much friendlier. Also, they didn't seem to be particularly hygenic (dirty clothes, no hairnets or hats), which is bothersome in a restaurant, even a casual one like this.
I agree with some previous reviewers that B&B is way overrated.
The food tends to be bland and generally seems uninspired, and they don't always have vegan cheese or sour cream available. Also, portions are small for the price.
I agree that B&B is just a favorite of trendy people who want to feel enlightened for eating at a supposedly great vegetarian place.
B&B is worth a visit to the grocery store but spend your restaurant money elsewhere.
Classic Slice is a decent place for vegan pizza in Milwaukee. When they opened they didn't have vegan cheese, which was annoying because they were hyped up as being super vegan-friendly, but you can find cheeseless pizza anywhere.
Since they added Follow Your Heart it is much better (though they charge you extra for it and don't add very much).
The curry pizza is a bit strange, so I recommend the Mediterranean or Super Veggie. They have nutritional yeast out in shakers to top the pizzas with, which is great.
The service is variable but never spectacular. The workers aren't very friendly but you don't need to interact with them much.
Comet's only problem is its popularity-it is always super-crowded and noisy. They recently banned smoking before 10 so it is much more pleasant now.
Portions are huge and good. My boyfriend and I think the best items are the vegan big luck burger, the gyro, and the vegan blt. Though it's pretty greasy you can sub a nice salad for $2.
Comet's beer list is incredible-great variety. I wish they'd mark the beer list as to which are vegan because we don't know a lot of them!
The service is almost always fantastic, and I had a server warn me once about honey in the salad dressing, so you know they are knowledgable!
The Riverwest Co-op Cafe is hands down the best place for vegans to eat in Milwaukee. The food is spectacular (my favorite is the Seitan Philly) and the staff and volunteers are awesome.
I also like that the deli case items are constantly rotating and always exhibit the creativity of the workers.
Saturday night pizza is a must!

I thought Buddha's Delight was great, but my boyfriend thought it was mediocre. I got a "shrimp" curry dish that was fantastic, with the veggie shrimps being almost scarily realistic. He got a tofu-broccoli dish that was pretty standard. We shared the wontons and agreed they were great. The soup we got with our meals was also outstanding. The service was not memorable but not terrible, either. This place definitely deserves a visit if you're in Boston.
