I have not found another restaurant that is as adept at using spices as Udupi. The food is soooo flavorful and there are so many vegan options. It's slightly oily, but it doesn't bother me and I don't have an iron stomach at all. The staff is so friendly. Only one waiter pushes drinks/appetizers and you just have to say no. I recommend the baigan bartha (an eggplant curry), chole peshawari (chickpea curry), Gobi Manghuriani (breaded cauliflower - I would NEVER have ordered this because I'm not big on cauliflower, but someone suggested I just try it, and it is sooooo awesome), the chutneys, batura (huge steam-filled puffy bread), and the mixed vegetable pakora appetizer (I ask for it without the chilis). I do request everything mild, because the mild stuff is still quite spicy. They have a website you can look at: http://www.udupicafemn.com
My husband and I wish we'd known about them when we got married because they would've been our caterers for sure.
