Super awesome delicious vegan gelato!
Decent vegan pizzas; I could imagine myself ordering pizzas from these guys if I was out of other eating ideas. We made the mistake of "dining-in" (beyond terrible ambiance) but that did give us the opportunity to ask questions of the counter worker.
The goal was to get BBQ tofu spring rolls; and it was met with success. The yellow coconut curry noodle dish I also had was good, but weak. The ambiance was nice for a small place. I would go back and try some more noodles to see if the other entres are significantly better.
Such a good breakfast was had. "Sausage" biscuit on house potatoes and a side of tempeh bacon. It was all so very good. She had a giant breakfast burrito which I got to help eat. If I lived two thousand miles closer I would go back again and again.
They even had vegan whipped "cream" in a pressurized can (or so the ice cream man assured me). If the ambiance of the back room was a lot nicer I would have to give this place a untethered 10.
The food was incredible: everything from the tiniest small plate of chanterelle mushroom sauté to the pecan crusted portobello and including the chocolate almond midnight dessert. Even the raspberry brown ale (Frambozen) was delicious. The service was a little slow, though; we had to wait quite a bit later than our reservation time to be seated and there were a couple times when we couldn't flag down the server. The prices were understandably high, though I would go back as much as I could reasonably afford.
It's all about the falafel which I found to be just right.
We went out of our way to have a delicious falafel sandwich from this place. It was toasted and delicious! The big rack of lamb-meat that these places tend to have was a little off-putting, though.
The fact that this coffee shop is only a couple blocks away may be why I patronize it so frequently; but even if that weren't true, I'd still drive out of my way for their consistently vegan chili (which seems to be on the menu every day). A couple of their servers (at present time) are vegan and can easily guide you through their menu.
A reasonably nice coffee shop that is not particularly vegan friendly. Breakfast options were fruit or granola, both of which are fine food-items, but I was hoping for something more substantial. All things considered, I'd much rather go down the street and eat at the Seward Cafe.
I worked in Lowertown (Saint Paul) for five years and I'd often trek over to the Black Dog for either a bowl of soup or a sandwich (strange that in all that time I never bothered to make a vegguide entry for it). I did it so frequently that I made up my own "sandwich order form" which I would bring, pre-filled out, to speed things up (I've attached a printable JPG to this entry so you can do likewise!).
The Black Dog is one of the few places that has vegan food in Lowertown and, for that and for the charming counter workers, it gets the high marks.
I was all set to give them a good rating but then I actually tried to order something. There is not a single vegan item on the menu; I had to ask the server about numerous modifications before I found something I would eat. Most disturbing, perhaps, was the server's comment about the pizza's soy substitute cheese: "...the owner says there's very little casein in it so it's okay if you're vegan". I ended up ordering a pizza with no cheese. Both servers I talked with were receptive to our complaints about the lack of vegan options and went so far as to tell me that they've brought it up with the owner before but that he remains resistant.
I've since lowered my rating because in the few times I've returned to the Chatterbox there has always something bad about it (mostly poor service - I don't even bother with the food and how can you possibly screw up tap beer?).
"Veggie fajita. Hot. Just guac & lettuce." Those six words garner me an adequate burrito that I can eat all day long. Chipotle is the only fast food franchise I can tolerate and I tend to get a burrito from them for lunch nearly once a week.
I wasn't terribly impressed by the selection or quality of the food. Since it's just a couple blocks from where I work I'll probably get some more take-out to see if any of the other entrees strike me. They do use vegan fortune cookies, anyway.
Been going here about every other week for a couple months now and have been enjoying it. The curries are delicious (especially after 11a when the better-curry-cook comes in). Look to the Pra Ram Rong Sung with tofu and the Red Curry with mock duck for delight. The noodles are not so good. Don't bother with them.
The quality of food was adequate, but the quantity of food was low(*); the ambiance was decent, the Koi pond was nice; the level of service was below my expectation. (*: I suffered the "there's egg in my curry!" debacle- the replacement entree was considerably smaller than the original. I was still hungry even after dining, whereas normally I usually take enough home for a second dinner in the evening. No second dinner for me.) I bet this place would be fine for takeout.
I've worked near this Mississippi Market for a couple years and it's one of the few places I can reliably pick up vegan food for lunch. As often as not they have a vegan soup available and there's always something in the small deli section that I will eat. I go there so frequently for lunch that I've now started doing most of my grocery shopping there as well. Also, the staff is awesome.
Very nice. I tried a handful of different things and liked them all. A substantial selection of teas. Not terribly expensive. Good service, pleasant ambiance. I look forward to going back.
OMG! Biscuits and Gravy! VEGAN Biscuits and Gravy! So delicious. I would give this place a straight "10" but for some nitpickisms: they should be located nearer to my house and I don't understand the no-cel-phone axiom (I don't find cel phone conversations any more irritating than regular people conversations which, obviously, are not prohibited). I think I'm going to get brunch there tomorrow morning.
We split the 2-person vegie (sic) combo and it was delicious; as was the lentil sambusa and roti appetizer. Reasonably nice ambiance (except for the television above the bar). The waitress seemed to understand our vegan requirement and was sufficiently attentive. I would happily return.
On a recommendation from dangerD I stopped by for a quick bite. Unfortunately, they were just closing, so the nice gentleman behind the counter could not make me a sandwich. But he was able to send me home with a delicious split pea lentil soup with miso (and, apparently, all of their soups will be vegan). I will be sure to stop by more often now that I know it exists.
On my most recent excursion I shared two delicious entrees (Thai Style Curry - Green and Thai Basil Supreme). They were both delicious with just the right amount of spicy; right on the edge of my tolerance. They even had special veggie dumplings that night which were pretty good. I've never been disappointed and I would go back to Thanhdo anytime.
I like it. It is delicious. Unfortunately, it's not closer to my house. My favorite bread is the Batura.
Now that I've worked in this area for a year I've grown less interested in Vina. The food isn't very interesting but I can at least find vegan options on their menu.
The only complaint I have about Sage's is that the prices seem to be about 15% too high. Otherwise I've found this to be a terrific restaurant in which I will dine every time I find myself in Salt Lake City.

Had a decent tofu-scramble for brunch. I would go back again.
