Great big menu with lots of vegan options - fake shrimp, fake beef, fake pork, tofu, etc. I love the mock beef and broccoli and the mock shrimp and broccoli. My companion always orders the Pepper Fried Mock Pork and loves it - "the best ever". The 3 Cup Tofu is quite good, as are the vegan spring rolls, potstickers and the very tasty mango, strawberry, etc. soy shakes. It's in the basement, but they're a little family operation and they're very friendly and they work hard to keep you happy. p.s. - closed on Tuesdays.
I recently ate here for the first time and was very pleased with my vegan seitan gyro and my vegan brownie. I also had some kind of vegan chickpea soup which was good, but not as good as the brownie or gyro. My companion got a vegan muffin, a side of vegan sausage and the vegan Helter Skelter - all of which he thought were tasty, though the toast was not good (part burnt & part undone). The atmosphere was a little unpleasant, with lots of people walking through and a little too noisy. But we'll definitely go back for the food. p.s. - open quite late!
I don't eat at the hot bar often, but the store has lots of good vegan stuff. They carry a lot of the Tofutti products I love (vegan pizza, cream cheese, cuties, etc.) but they don't have others (Tofutti vegan cheese slices). They do usually have some Follow your Heart vegan cheese, and Hip Whip, and good vegan chocolates and marshmallows and lots of seitan, tempeh, etc. They used to have the Morningstar Tuno (vegan tuna), which was really good, but I haven't seen it lately. The deli case has some super vegan butterscotch pudding, and there's a wonderful vegan soy nog parfait in December, and I've had some very good vegan peanut chocolate desserts from the bakery. It can be hard to find a vegan store-made bread, and they do have an unfortunate lot of meat, but they really have lots of good vegan stuff too.
