Kalga has amazing food that is always fresh and tasty (not to mention the beverages)! The service is always prompt and friendly. All dishes can be made vegan upon request. I recommend the pizza, fresca salad, which has a homemade fennel balsamic dressing, any of the Indian dishes, and the tomato/basil/coconut milk soup.
Compared to other mock meat Chinese restaurants I have visited, the Vegetarian House lacks in atmosphere, as well as flavor. The food was mediocre at best, and I wasn't that impressed with the service. I would recommend Bay Leaf, which has 100 times better food and a comfortable, beautiful atmosphere for just a little more money. For me, the food was just to simple and greasy at Vegetarian House.
Vita is the bomb digity. I love their breakfast scrambles and the "chicken" fried steak. For lunch I recommend the tempeh Reuben or the tofu fish and chips. One of my favorite places to get a meal in Portland.
Ok, so I have traveled around and have yet to find anywhere that compares to Ya Hala. By far the best middle eastern food I have ever eaten (possibly my favorite restaurant). The service is always fast, the food is amazing, and the price is just right. Ya Hala offers food that you would find at a fine dining restaurant at very fair prices and a cozy, and romantic atmosphere. A great place to dine alone or with large groups (which they often accommodate). They also have a store connected to the restaurant for your mid east food needs. Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention: they have so many vegan options including four different types of vegan baklava. That's right, vegan baklava.

The Farm has amazing food and a wonderfully cozy and romantic atmosphere. They always have at least one vegan entree (which changes with the seasons), as well as appetizers, soups, and salads. I recommend the delicious herd crusted tofu with mushroom masala sauce and their homemade bread and roasted garlic. Not only is the food amazing here, but The Farm offers an array of wine, mixed drinks, and beer. A must for anyone traveling through or a lifer in Portland.
