This place is my favourite Chinese restaurant in the cities... maybe my favourite restaurant period in the cities period! The food is fantastic, if not a wee bit pricey. The owners are incredibly accommodating and very nice! If I could afford to, I'd go at least once a week.
Although they do have one vegan option, there is little that is amazing about this store, save the pastries and other sweets and savories. They're quite good, and made fresh! (There's usually a vegetarian pizza or focaccia, and always a vegetarian sandwich.) Unfortunately the breads are almost all frozen, and then thawed the night before, having been made in days prior by the wholesale workers. The employees will tell you that the bread is fresh, but that's rarely the case.
Joe's Deli (minus the market part) is home to probably the best, least expensive Lebanese food I've ever had. The veggie platter ($7 or so) is great, and changes depending on what they have in the deli at the time. (Hummus, grape leaves, baba ganouche...etc.) It also happens to feed two people EASILY. The only down side is you need to buy extra pitas or mountain bread (I think that's the name), but at only a buck or two a pop, it makes for a very affordable, tasty meal.
Rustica has truly fantastic, authentic European-style breads. The great thing is, most European breads are vegan! Rustica's breads are all fresh made, sometimes well into the working day, and they carry many varieties, varying depending on the day. Fantastic food, friendly employees, and Java Jack's coffee shop right next door! (Stop by there, too! Soy options for everything!)
