I literally stumbled upon this place and was so excited to find it, during a random stop in Flagstaff. My boyfriend (non veg) and I absolutely loved it. He loved the coffee too. I can't remember exactly what we ordered, but both dishes were delish. If I ever end up in Flagstaff again, this will be my first stop :)
We did not think we would ever again find a vegan restaurant as incredible as Millenium in SF. We were wrong. This place is absolutely divine!
So many dishes sounded so delicious that we had to sample several. The first was one that we did not have our eye on - the red beet tartar. The waiter sold us on it anyway though, and we're so glad he did! It blew us away, WOW! We also tried the chicken fried seitan with mashed potatoes and gravy (yummm), and the asian tacos (quite unique). For dessert, we couldn't decide between three items. We asked the waiter which one we should choose, and he dutifully let us know that we had to get both the flourless chocolate cake AND the cinnamon creme brulee. We weren't disappointed. Food scores a 10.....a truly remarkable dining experience.
Our waiter (I regrettably cannot recall his name) was incredibly helpful and amicable; fully deserving of his 30% tip. Service scores a 10.
Like the previous reviewer, I am docking one point solely based on location. I, however, am not saying they should open up a location in Hollywood or LA, like every other vegetarian restaurant. They have enough, for God's sake. There are many wealthy people in the Newport Beach area who like to be healthy, and Madeleine's would no doubt thrive in such a location. While I am a vegan, I recognize that the "v" word unfortunately sometimes carries a negative connotation to the unenlightened, so Madeleine's marketing of healthy, organic, gourmet would work perfectly in Orange County. PLEASE OPEN UP A LOCATION IN OC!!!
I've only been to this place once (it's so far), and it was like 3 years ago, but I love the concept. As someone else said, it's probably not the healthiest, but we REALLY need more vegan fast food restaurants like this one. Seriously - if they were around, people would go.
This place was inexpensive and fast, and there was a line of people trying to order. EXPAND!!! Preferably down south to Newport ;) We need more options for the mainstream (non-veggies) - if they saw that choosing vegan for a meal was as convenient, fast, and cheap as say Burger King, they would choose Orean because it's so much healthier.
And I have to say, it was SO GREAT to be able to drink a shake again!
Food is kind of pricey and parking is a bitch as with anywhere in LA, but the food is great. I have turned many people on to this place - too bad they don't have any in Orange County! (please expand south!!)
I love the "TV Dinner." To be able to eat mashed potatoes and gravy in a restaurant again is a dream! Oh yeah and their Caesar salad is awesome. Yummmmm!!
OMG this place is awesome!!! Where else can we vegans get vegan risotto?? Try the asparagus risotto and have them add sundried tomatoes. You'll be blown away :) And their chai lattes are great too. I wish we had this place in Newport. Expand, please!!!
This will be my first review that is not raving in delight. The food is so-so, kind of bland. While I do go there anytime I'm in the South Bay (good location and I like to support veggie restaurants), the people at the front counter are pretty rude. Very unfriendly.
We went to Bodhi yesterday and were SO impressed! We got the orange chicken and it was to die for. I also tried the "Beef in Spicy Peanut Butter sauce" and it was pretty good too.
Not only was the food great, but the waitress was really on top of it. I had picked out the little pieces of cilantro from my hot and sour soup (does anybody actually LIKE that stuff??) and had the tiny leaves on the side of a plate. She walked by and asked if I didn't like cilantro. I said no, and she said "OK, I'll run to the kitchen and tell them not to put it on your entree!" Wow, I was impressed that she was so observant and then went out of her way to please customers. It is a family run business - I can't wait to go back!
Love this place. I wish they would open up a drive through or some way for it to be fast food. The tables are uncomfortable, so I usually get my food to go. Sometimes I'm waiting there a long time for it.
However, the food is great and I love bringing my non-veggie friends there. They can't believe how good it is. My fave are the chili cheese fries. Yummmmmmm!!!
Oh yeah, and Linda and Tanya are fantastic. I took one cooking class from Tanya and use the butternut squash lasagna and tiramisu recipes all the time. My friends can't believe it's all vegan! This place is great, and I'm so glad that Tanya has expanded this network, even though she must be on the road all the time. We love Native Foods!
I love Wheel of Life! Victor's passion for veganism is fantastic; Such an inspiration that he has started this restaurant to try and influence others into a life of compassion. His warmth never ceases to amaze me.
Oh yeah, and the food is great too! I love the orange chicken, lots of stuff in the lunch buffet that I don't know the names of, and homemade coconut icecream with fried bananas. And the cheesecake is awesome too. I bring my non-veggie friends here and they love it too. What a great place!
I love this place! My fave is the kung pao chicken, yummmmm! The mongolian soy beef is great too, and the cheesecake will blow you away. I can't believe how real it tasted. The owner always remembers me and I've gotten my birthday cakes there ever since I found the place. If it weren't so far off the beaten path, I'd be there a LOT more often. Build one in Newport or Laguna Beach!!
I thought this place was great. I loved that they charged per pound, because that meant that we could taste as many different dishes as we wanted! We really liked the pot pie. I'll totally go back the next time we're in SD.
OK this place was my first experience with vegan gourmet dining. I am SOOOOOOO impressed! I even bought their cookbook (though I've yet to use it - stuff looks pretty difficult to make).
I really wish this idea would catch on, because I think this kind of place would do great in Newport Beach. It seems that every high end restaurant in Newport serves foie gras or something equally awful. I think if we had healthier options that were presented in an up scale manner, people would go.
Case in point: My boyfriend and I were staying at a hotel just a few doors down for three days, and we kept going back. I remember we went there on a Sunday night just for dessert, and it was about 10PM. The place was packed, and we had to wait half an hour even for a bar seat! I'm glad it's doing so well. Please expand!!!!
I was sooooooo excited to find this place, and all the food looked and sounded great. However, it didn't taste that way. I'll still go back next time I'm in town, maybe for the ice cream. The BBQ pork was icky, with a very odd taste to the sauce that didn't coincide well with the taste of the veggie meat. I love the idea though, and the waiter was very hospitable.
I love this quaint little place. I didn't find it to be particularly veg-friendly as their sign said, but the couple of things they did have were fabulous. I think it was the best salad I've ever had (can't remember the name, but it had dried cranberries and their own dressing - just ask for it without the cheese).
The wait staff was extremely helpful, kind, and fast - really displayed that southern hospitality. I'll totally go back the next time I'm in Savannah.
PS I took five points off because even though they were fab, there were only a couple of veg options. I thought it was weird that they posted a sign saying that they were voted number 1 for veg dining in Savannah when only like 2 things on the menu were vegetarian. Plus, they got me all excited for their corn chowder soup but upon asking, I found that they used chicken stock. They really should use veg broth so that all can enjoy.
Wow, I was so happy to find this place! The food was great - even my non veggie friend enjoyed his meal. I'll definitely stop in again the next time I'm in Kaui!
After being in Mexico for nearly a week, this place was a breath of animal fleshless air!! I was SOOOOO excited to find it! Being a vegan in Mexico is not easy, let me tell you. I was so happy with this find, that I took pictures with the waitstaff and of me outside under the sign. Is it weird that this was a highlight of my trip to PV??
Anyway, I just couldn't believe all the food I could eat there; I was in heaven. The staff was very sweet and there were some pretty yummy dishes as well. It's been awhile so I don't remember more food details, but I just found this site and had to comment on this restaurant. If you're in PV, it's a must-visit!!
This place is awesome. Their pizza, OH MY GOSH! It's amazing! I also really liked the deli sandwich - everything they make is so intricate, with so many different components added to make the dish out of this world.
I was so grateful for accidentally stumbling upon this while on our way to Mt. Hood, and expressed that to the owner. I asked her how she made her cheese, and she responded back by handing me recipe after recipe of all kinds of different dishes! I've already made the cashew cheese here at home and yummmm!!! I can't wait to try the others. This is what veganism is about - creating delicious yet healthy dishes, and sharing our secrets with everyone else so that others can implement in their lives. The owners put their hearts into this place and it shows. A huge thumbs up!
WOW, I LOVED this place!!! Granted, I love Thai food so it's to be expected, but they really knew how to do it :) SLC isn't exactly veg friendly, so it was great to find this place and have so many yummy veg options. Definitely stop by if you're in the hood!
