I've been hanging out here for longer than it's been the Hard Times, and I still love this place. I eat meat, but I used to be vegan and I know good food when I get it. And this, my friends, is just damn good food. I wish you could still smoke inside. Oh well, I still go to Hard Times at least once a day, even if it's just for coffee. Don't forget the coffee. And it's (I think) about the cheapest place in town that actually serves real food. I mean stuff that doesn't come in a vacu-packed frozen brick. I've been in the kitchen, folks, and they really do make everything on site. No foolin'. Anyway, Hard Times gets my vote for best eats/coffee anywhere an the Twin Cities.
