When was the last time you were able to buy an authentic-tasting Italian sub made with veggie salami at a deli? For me, it was a first, and now I'm hooked.
This is a funky place. Word is that the wait staff is mostly volunteer and work for tips. It doesn't have the cleanest feel, but they seem to keep that "A" placard going.
The food is good (I wouldn't say great), cheap, and plentiful. By the way, it's not exclusively veggie, but they have lots of vegan and vegetarian options, all marked on the menu as such. They are famous for their potato (or potato & tofu) tacos. Very tasty indeed.
Sipz is my favorite vegetarian restaurant in San Diego. They also have a new Poway location (see their website for info). They have a large menu with all of the standard (and a few non-standard) Asian dishes. My favorites are the Chinese "chicken" salad and the Broccoli "Beef." I've heard that others really like the Kung Pao "Chicken." The decor is kind of plain, but clean and the service is efficient.
