After reading the reviews on this site for Biology 701, I was really excited to check it out while I was visiting St. Cloud this weekend. Sadly, the food was a bit disappointing. We tried to order the fried tofu and the mango avocado salsa appetizers, but they were out of the fried tofu, and the salsa really wasn't a salsa at all, just pieces of cut up mango and avocado with cold mozzarella daiya mixed together. We ended up getting the hummus and pita chips instead, and it was kind of plain. We also ordered the vegan pizza, and that is the only thing I would definitely order again.
I was told by some local St. Cloud residents that since the old chef left, the food has gone significantly down hill, and you could tell. However, the atmosphere is great! The staff is really nice, and they have a regular drag show every Sunday night around 9:30pm. The LGBT community is so warm and welcoming at this bar. I would definitely make Biology 701 a regular stop if I lived in St. Cloud. I'm just not sure I would eat there all the time.
Fireflour Pizza is a nice addition to downtown Bismarck. The food is great and the service is wonderful. The server was able to point me to vegetarian options. Many of the pizzas contain meat, but would be vegetarian without. I spoke to one of the owners who said that he would be willing to put Daiya on the pizza if customers brought it in unopened. He also said that with enough requests for Daiya on the pizza, he may keep some on site.
Fireflour Pizza also delivers to the Laughing Sun Brewing Company, located a couple shops to the south. So you can enjoy a locally brewed beer while eating a local pizza.
Pancheros is similar to a standard build-your-own Mexican place, however the tortillas and veggies are so tasty! The mix the contents of the burrito for you so you're not eating a whole mouthful of rice or quacamole, but have a nice blend. Unfortunately, the quacaole is extra, but it's well worth it.
Paradiso's food is decent, and I was really excited when they added the mock meats to their menu a couple months ago. They don't have a lot of vegan options at the moment, but many menu items could be vegan if dairy products were removed.
This restaurant is very family-friendly, so you may see a lot of young children dining. It can get pretty loud in there sometimes. If you're looking for a nice quiet meal, this might not be a good choice. But they do have a pretty extensive margarita menu if that helps.
The food is usually really good here, but make sure that you ask them to clean off the grill and use clean utensils. Most of the time they'll just toss the food on the grill with meat or where meat was cooked without a second thought. One time they cleaned off the grill, but then used the same utensils to cook that they were using with meat. So it's a good idea to specify both. They're usually pretty understanding about it, but sometimes they can give you attitude (usually if it's busy).
