The biggest chain of health food stores in the UK is probably Holland and Barrett. They do a range of whole foods, and vegetarian/vegan convenience foods. There's an outlet in most towns, and you can find their store finder at http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/account/customerservices/store-locator

Since October 1, 2004, all shops and restaurants in the UK are required by law to provide disabled access. This can just be assistance from the staff to help you into the building, but there must be some way for you to get in there. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/DisabledPeople/index.htm

As of July 1st 2007, all restaurants and bars in the UK are now smoke-free.
