I love this place! It's a huge all-vegetarian co-op with tons of vegan options. They have bulk, packaged, and ready-to-go foods, and their bakery has lots of delicious vegan treats.

When I need to do a "big shopping" or find a specialty item not available at Other Avenues (the smaller co-op near my home), I go to Rainbow. This is a fabulous natural food store and a mecca for vegetarians. Think Whole Foods, but a co-op rather than a corporate-op. The bulk section alone makes it worth the trip.

This is a terrific grocery store! I went in to get some lunch, and I ended up spending over an hour checking out the terrific bulk foods section. They sell several herbs, grains, granola, nuts, butters, oils, etc. The produce looked extremely fresh and delicious. They have a huge section with vitamins/supplements. They carry several different types of daily packaged vegan and vegetarian meals that include avocado/tofu sandwiches, burritos, sushi, hummus wraps, falafels, couscous, tabbouleh. The baked sweets were mostly vegan and they included scones, cupcakes, brownies, cookies, muffins. This grocery store is one in a million. The only downside is that there is no deli. I highly recommend the raw whole cashews, almonds, raw macadamias, and the vegan mushroom zucchini ravioli. The nuts taste so fresh and the ravioli was filled with flavor and spice. Check it out!

I bought olives, dried mango pieces, rose bud tea, Grape flavoured Gombucha, my veges and some fresh pasta. Just went in for a look. This shop is the best.

I was amazed by rainbow. It is as big as a 'normal' supermarket, but it is entirely vegetarian! They have just about everything that a vegetarian/vegan could ask for, including many unique and hard to find items. They carry numerous locally manufactured products that one will not find anywhere else (Maggie Mudd, Peasant Pies, Sparks restaurant foods, Black China bakery, etc.) They also have an enormous bulk section, which includes some refrigerated items such as bulk tofu and pickles!

One thing that I wish they had was a fresh deli, but they offer a huge selection of prepared, take-away meals. Their prices are rather reasonable and they have a nice car park!

An enthusiastic recommend.

Wow! What a great place. I wish we had one in Minneapolis.

The most wonderful grocery store in San Francisco. The only meat in the place is in the organic pet foods they sell, so veggies and vegans can run wild. This worker-owned coop has the best bulk food section of any store I've seen in SF. Add to that a wonderful selection of cheeses, meat substitutes, and fair trade kitchen products, as well as some innovative munchies and a great bakery section. I get my staples here (it's two blocks from me), and sometimes supplement them at FoodCo (across the street).

I do almost all of my grocery shopping here, and I think it is simply amazing, probably the best co-op I've ever come across. It is all vegetarian. The selection is huge, so I can find pretty much everything I need. I feel good supporting this place.
