Fast-casual offshoot of PF Chang's China Bistro
To take one look inside Pei Wei, you'd never guess you were in a fast-food joint. It looks upscale, and everything about it is first-fate, for fast food. Actually, this is "fast-casual," a fairly new concept of introducing exotic food delicacies to the masses.
And it is fast. And the portions are good-sized.
Pei Wei is somewhat Vegetarian-friendly, as tofu is available as a meat substitute. But only a few of the menu items can be made truly vegan.

This place isn't bad, but there are better alternatives (I highly suggest Tott's Asian Grill just next to Pei Wei in S. Tempe, and mom and pop restaurants like Thai Basil). Pei Wei is a corporate chain, so you pay for what you get.

After recently trying Pei Wei yet again, I feel I must give up on this place. They have, with lagging sales, revamped their menu and the recipes and not only is this place now less Veg-friendly than before, but the taste of food has gone downhill even more than before. So there's really only one direction for this chain to now go: up. Over the years, the food here has taken on a taste that I can only now describe as "rancid." (Or that's how I imagine the literal taste of that word would mean to me.) In fact, if I had the power to delete this entry (one that I myself created) I would do it, without hesitation. There are about 188 other entries for the Phoenix metro that I would suggest trying ahead of Pei Wei.
