I attended a NYC board games meetup event at Olga's restaurant last night and thought it was really nice of them to keep the spot open 2 hours past close just so we could play games.
They had a fair amount of vegan side dishes (about 5), but they didn't have any vegan main dishes or desserts, which was a disappointment. I got the sweet potato and lentil dish and garlic broccoli, both of which were good, but the potatoes could have used more flavoring. The owner (I think?) said she thought there may be eggs in the bread they serve with the sides so I asked if I could have a couple of the mint roasted/broiled tomatoes instead and she said that was fine. The tomatoes had a very strong, robust flavor and were a bit too intense for me to enjoy on their own but they went very well with the potatoes.
This is the 2nd or 3rd restaurant that I've visited that serves you from the food bar and then throws the plate in the microwave to heat it up. While I understand that many behind-the-scenes restaurants may do this, I get really turned off when the microwave is right in my face and I see it. That said, it's nice to be able to see their kitchen space, as I always like spying on the people preparing my food.
