Mostly Vegetarian Restaurant and Coffee Bar
Located across the street from Johns Hopkins University, this place caters especially well to the college-age crowd. In addition to providing a fairly extensive mostly-vegetarian menu (with plenty of vegan options), the One World Cafe also hosts a number of events, including art shows, poetry slams and (unofficial) pool tournaments.

This restaurant shows a strong commitment to a varied vegetarian menu. However, many of the dishes are based on fake meats, of which I am not a fan. In addition, I eat plants not just to avoid killing animals, but also to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Unfortunately, One World Cafe offers little in the way of low-fat, whole foods, as most of the main dishes are packed with oil.
My experiences here make me cringe when people suggest I eat there just because I'm vegan. First of all, the vegan options were extremely limited given that it was a veg-specific place. As of the first time I ever went, even their mashed potatoes weren't vegan. I ended up getting a soy hot dog that came with potato chips, which is something I would not even consider bringing into my home for a quick bite. I have since gone back to give it another shot, in the hopes of supporting a veg business, but was disappointed again. The atmosphere? Still loud, overly crowded, and stressful. The floors? Still inexplicably sticky. The food? Still unappetizing (my chili seemed like salsa with some beans stirred in). And, most damning, the customer service? Still embarrassingly sub-par.
