Eclectic (Varied)
Mostly Vegetarian Restaurant and Coffee Bar
Located across the street from Johns Hopkins University, this place caters especially well to the college-age crowd. In addition to providing a fairly extensive mostly-vegetarian menu (with plenty of vegan options), the One World Cafe also hosts a number of events, including art shows, poetry slams and (unofficial) pool tournaments.

This place is ALWAYS out of vegan desserts. They get them from an outside baker who only delivers twice a week, but they never know what day it's going to be so they can't tell you when to come back.
They have a decent number of vegan options, but they're pretty typical, like hummus wraps and tofu sandwiches.
This place has one of the biggest vegan (and vegetarian) menus in town. It even has vegan desserts. I agree with the other reviewer about the great vegan carrot cake. You must try the philly cheese steakless, which can be made vegan upon request. I also like the (already vegan) Indian platter. You can also come in the morning for vegan pancakes (more than you could possibly eat!), vegan sausage, and other treats. The breakfast potatoes are a little undercooked. (I ordered them a second time just to confirm, and it appears to be the house style, not a one-time mistake.) Some of the servers are less than attentive, but it's not so bad that it bothers me. Just allow plenty of time.
Everything we've tried at One World has been really delicious, and we keep going back for more. The specials are fabulous. Don't miss the vegan carrot cake or the miso soup. I am drooling just thinking about it. It's about time that Baltimore had a restaurant with more than one or two vegan options on the menu.
One World Cafe is a great place to chill with a laptop and a fancy coffee drink. With its ever-changing art displays, poetry slams and trendy location, it is a great place to meet interesting people. The vegan peanut butter smoothie is unparalleled. I have tried many times to buy similar-sounding smoothies at other restaurants and have been sorely disppointed each time. Although a number of items on the menu don't have the vegan "V" sign next to them, they can be made vegan by substituting in soy cheese. The vegan desserts at One World are quite good, so be sure to save room for them.

For those who think that One World has limited vegan options, note that the following are also easily made vegan (with casein-free soy cheese and soy mayo):
-Philly Cheese "Steak-less"
-"Meatball" Sub
These are, hands down, my two favorite menu items. I don't know why they don't have the "V" sign next to them (signifying that they can be made vegan upon request) but I've had numerous vegan friends who work at One World assure me that there's nothing besides the cheese that makes them non-vegan. The Philly Cheese Steak-less is the best vegan Philly cheese steak I have ever eaten (and I've had quite a few).
Sadly, the person who posted below is right about the desserts. I used to go to One World and find AMAZING vegan desserts every time I went. These days, it has been pretty disappointing. I haven't seen vegan cakes the last couple of times I have gone (which were always my favorite dessert at One World). There have been vegan brownies and cookies, but they tend to be dry and bland (maybe they're just sitting on the counter for a long time between deliveries).
