Grilled sandwiches, quesadillas, salads, soups, smoothies that are to-die-for, great espresso drinks. They have oatmeal in the mornings with a variety of toppings that you help yourself to. They always have six soups out, almost all are vegetarian, usually two are vegan. You help yourself to fantastic bakery bread that goes with it.
For your sweet tooth, the locally-made bakery treats at the counter are wonderful. In summer they have pints of cherries for sale in the cooler with the Jones sodas.
As a vegan, you'll do well with the oatmeal, smoothies, soups, salads and soy lattes. All but one of their salad dressings are vegan. Disappointingly, you'll have to make special requests for the sandwiches. My only criticism of this place is they don't offer even one vegan sandwich. That said, they are happy to accomodate. I've found both the owners to be vegan-friendly though regular staff can sometimes be clueless. My biggest disappointment with this place is that they don't use cage-free eggs.
The place has a good progressive vibe with a bulletin board up front full of local happenings. They carry the Northern Express (complimentary) newspaper which you will love. They recycle just about everything. In summer there's usually a water bowl out front for dogs, it's that type of place.
FYI, when you walk in the protocol is to place your order at the counter then grab a table. When it's ready someone calls your name and walks it out to you. Outdoor seating in the summer.
