I don't understand why so many people love Yats. Like many other restaurants, vegetarians are treated as an afterthought. Vegans are barely considered at all.
For anyone who loves the earth, Yats is also appalling due to their overabundant use of styrofoam. Plates and cups could be paper and recyclable, but Yats continues to use styrofoam.
The few times I've been forced to eat at Yats, my friends suggested it because they have a vegan-friendly chili. However, this is nothing I could not make myself, and better tasting, at home. I don't like paying to eat something I am perfectly capable of making to suit my own taste and then eating it out of styrofoam to boot. Tsk, tsk, shame on you Yats.
Before I was vegan I had a vegetarian dish which committed the ultimate sin of vegetarian cuisine. Like other restaurants who simply don't understand how to make tasty meat-free food, the Yats powers-that-be decided to overload the dish with red pepper. There are other ways to flavor a cajun meat-free meal than with red pepper. It was completely overpowering and made the meal "blandly hot," if you understand what I mean.
I really, really don't like Yats. It could be so much more.
