Excellent food, wonderfully nice people working there!
The food is great. They are eager to answer questions about ingredients and go out of their way to accommodate your dietary needs.
Vegetarian and vegan friendly menu items. All delicious.
I have eaten there multiple times during each visit to Lincoln.
Natural, whole-foods - including soup broths (which is not easy to find!).
I highly recommend Bread and Cup.
Close enough to campus to walk! Nice covered outdoor eating area in good weather.

Food not so bad, Service OMG

I have never been treated, in my 66 years, as poorly as the last visit here! I have previously thought the food good but pretty overpriced and the staff bordering on insulted that you bothered them with your order. Further re: putting the total on the bill...tip...at the counter with no chance to merit the food and service ahead of time is not appropro! BUT the worst..., I ordered a soup called potato boil assuming it was potato soup. It arrived a broth with onions, no potatoes and corned beef! I hate corned beef, and said you may take this back and bring me the lentil. I was advised after the staff person took it back that the manager would see me. She came and said she would sell me...SELL ME!!!! a different soup for half price. I thought she was kidding. I said you are kidding right? She said no, she could no longer serve it and was not agreeable that it should have stated on the menu card by at the place you order that it had meat/corned beef in it. I would never have ordered it if I had known. Then she said do you want the other soup or not? The most unapologetic treatment I have ever had. My companion even said, you are not serious? She stated absolutely, I can't resell this. Like it's my fault, I should have known this potato boil soup had the meat in it? I said no. I then had to ask for butter and jam or something to put on the bread I had ordered on the side. I would have left immediately, but my friend had received her $19 lunch and I could not make her leave it. I paid $9.68 for a small loaf of soda bread and the soup that went back! Not even an offer of a piece of cheese or anything. I still can't believe it. My friend and I have been here a number of times before and have commented about the attitude of the help, but felt even though the food was a bit pricey, the bread was good and we would continue to meet here. I really don't know why we did as the acoustics are terrible, but in warm weather it is nice to sit outside. Now, she says she will never darken their door again, and I know I won't. All for want of $1.00's worth of a different soup....and a smile. I will tell all my friends and family about this extremely unpleasant experience and as I sit here and think of it, almost bringing me to tears, treatment. Again, never anywhere in the world have I had such a sad experience at an eating establishment. P.S. As we left I noticed the words "with corned beef" added to the menu board!!!!!
