I arranged a large meetup at Grasshopper and was pleased to find plenty of room in the restaurant for the 16 people that made it. It turned out to be a busy Friday night, but we'd made a reservation, and everything went quickly and smoothly, with minimal "auctioning" of orders once they came out. It should be noted that the woman who took our order (I'm sure I'll get to know her name as I return again and again) was able to take and memorize orders for the entire table like a machine! It was pretty wild.
Of course, six of us ordered the Sweet and Sour Sensation (mostly delicious, except for a couple of pieces that were not properly cooked) and about four of us ordered the No Name, which is basically the same dish, but with seitan instead of tofu or soy protein. I think I preferred the No Name, which comes in thinner strips. Both entrees came with broccoli, which gave the fried dish some semblance of healthfulness!
It was kind of strange sitting next to a fish tank while eating vegan food...
Tasty food and wide variety. Soups come out FAST.
It's a lot like any oriental fast food - quick, tasty, friendly, and reasonably priced, but a little oily, and the decor isn't spanking new.
The veggies are cooked well though. Perfect crisp broccoli and wonderful greens. Did not have any MSG aftertaste.
Vegan selection was awesome! The food was good, but not the greatest. I was really excited about the vegan cheesecake, but it was a bit of a let down compared to others I've had.
The service wasn't very good.
Not the best vegetarian restaraunt in Boston, but still extremely good. Very popular with the vegetarian scene. There is a huge variety of options that are all 100% vegan, and I have found the service to be friendly as well. They have special events sometimes, and don't miss the all you can eat vegan buffet the 3rd sunday of every month.
Not sure the problem with the first reviewer, but this is one of the most amazing vegan restaurants in New England if not the US. Great variety, with very different tastes, conquering carnivores even. The "asian pizza" appetizer is awesome, as are the mushroom dishes. Service is fine and it is always crowded. Avocado shake is a treat. Not to be missed!!
this food tastes like it was extracted from a septic tank and fried in 200 gallons of corn oil, then eaten by the chef and vomited onto a plate which is placed on a tray and taken to your table where you foolishly consume enough of it to wish that you were dead. then the waitstaff tries to suck your soul out thru a strange chinese tube. we were lucky to escape with our lives, however our intestines suffered greatly for the following weeks.

A number of friends recommended this place, but I wasn't too impressed with it. I only had one dish--the no name dish--which was pretty much General Tso's chicken, so perhaps this dish wasn't very representative. The sauce was good, but the wheat gluten was very dried out.
