July 2008 - Vegan selection was awesome! The food was good, but not the greatest. I was really excited about the vegan cheesecake, but it was a bit of a let down compared to others I've had.

The service wasn't very good.

May 2009 - Changing my rating from four to two stars. Service is horrendous and the waitress was super rude. Their food is totally not worth the bad service.

I actually stopped in here after I had ordered Scallywaggles pizza which is a few doors down as I found their pizza repulsive and was still hungry. This place was one notch above. After our waiter took our orders for this family of 5, he was back with all 5 dishes in less than 2 minutes! Talk about fast service,,,I just hope it did not come off of someone's else's plates and end up on ours. I was not impressed at all with the dish I ordered including the appetizer, "roast pork", it was flat and tasteless. All the flavors and textures blended into each other. It was boring and bland. My boyfriend ordered the hot and sour soup which was very spicy but edible. The spring rolls were extremely dry inside and out, I don't know what the heck they were filled with. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone vegan or vegetarian.

Grasshopper is one of the best restaurants I have ever visited. The service was amazing (though we came at an odd hour so it wasn't crowded). The menu is huge and neither my boyfriend nor I was used to having so many options!

My boyfriend got sweet and sour tofu which was amazing. The tofu came with a very thick coating of some kind of bread (think corn dog with tofu center). I got a seitan dish that was also quite good. We shared spring rolls that were fantastic and not too greasy. I don't usually like green tea, but the tea they brought to the table was perfect.

This should be anyone's first choice for restaurants in Boston.

A number of friends recommended this place, but I wasn't too impressed with it. I only had one dish--the no name dish--which was pretty much General Tso's chicken, so perhaps this dish wasn't very representative. The sauce was good, but the wheat gluten was very dried out.

Tasty food and wide variety. Soups come out FAST.
It's a lot like any oriental fast food - quick, tasty, friendly, and reasonably priced, but a little oily, and the decor isn't spanking new.
The veggies are cooked well though. Perfect crisp broccoli and wonderful greens. Did not have any MSG aftertaste.

Not the best vegetarian restaraunt in Boston, but still extremely good. Very popular with the vegetarian scene. There is a huge variety of options that are all 100% vegan, and I have found the service to be friendly as well. They have special events sometimes, and don't miss the all you can eat vegan buffet the 3rd sunday of every month.

Not sure the problem with the first reviewer, but this is one of the most amazing vegan restaurants in New England if not the US. Great variety, with very different tastes, conquering carnivores even. The "asian pizza" appetizer is awesome, as are the mushroom dishes. Service is fine and it is always crowded. Avocado shake is a treat. Not to be missed!!

this food tastes like it was extracted from a septic tank and fried in 200 gallons of corn oil, then eaten by the chef and vomited onto a plate which is placed on a tray and taken to your table where you foolishly consume enough of it to wish that you were dead. then the waitstaff tries to suck your soul out thru a strange chinese tube. we were lucky to escape with our lives, however our intestines suffered greatly for the following weeks.
