Great vegetarian restaurant in downtown Asheville
This place is all vegetarian and has many vegetarian options. The servers are very friendly and the food is very tasty.
The Laughing Seed was voted "Best Vegetarian Restaurant" in Western North Carolina eight years running by readers of both the Asheville Citizen Times and Mountain Xpress.

A touch on the formal side, the Laughing Seed is a vegetarian culinary institution in Asheville. It has an excellent reputation and the fare is always fresh and creative. Not the best for dining on a tight budget, but try their brunch for an affordable meal on the town.
Absolutely the best vegetarian restaurant i've ever been to. An extensive mostly vegan menu. Brunch is outstanding as well. Very healthy considering the alternative (rosettas). I always order off the specials menu and am always pleased. Mostly organic and local foods are used, and the menu actually says so! You have to go there!
This restaurant seemed to me a vegetarian restaurant for non vegetarians. The food was really greasy and way over priced. Maybe I just had a bad experience but I felt sick after eating there from the excess oil. People may like it if they are used to over cooked, greasy food, which most Americans are.
This is hands down the best vegetarian restaurant I have ever been to. I had gone to Asheville earlier this year, specifically to eat there, and didn't realize they were closed on Tuesdays...and it was a Tuesday! So last week I finally was able to make it there again...and it was worth the wait. I highly recommend the Pacific Rim Seitan, and I can't wait to go back and try something else!!
The ambiance is wonderful, I was there on a very sunny day, so the skylight added a nice bright touch, and the service was very attentive.
One of the best veggie restaurants I've ever been to!! Amazing food and amazing ambiance! Be careful -- they are closed on Tuesdays!!!!!!
The Harmony is indeed the gleaming flagship of the Laughing Seed Menu... My personal favorite is the Lo-Country Roll-ups...
I was kind of partial to their old menu (from about 2 years ago). The New menu definitely pays heightened attention to creating picture perfect, more "gourmet quality" food... unfortunately, to do this well it seems they were forced to drop many items from the menu, and in my mind, the fact that I, as a vegetarian could stroll in and have a menu of almost 40+ options... was always the best part.
So, unfortunately, not as great a quantity these days... but a whole bunch of quality.
My friend and I ate at this wonderful and quaint little place and absolutely loved the harmony bowl. Unforgettable and flavorful!! Wow, highly recommended. I cannot wait to return to Ashevelle to try another fabulous dish.
I ate here with my family over spring break. It was great. I'm the only vegetarian in my family, but everyone was able to find something. Even my brother who hates all veggies.
