Thai
Featuring an extensive array of Veg-friendly Thai food!
Thai Elephant in Tempe differs somewhat from the downtown Phoenix location in that it has significantly more menu options. In fact, you'll be hard-pressed to find more menu items at any Thai restaurant in the entire Phoenix metro area!
Make no mistake about it, you could go to the Tempe location everyday for a month and never get the same Veg-friendly entree. In fact, there's way too many menu items to list in the space provided here, but suffice to say there's no shortage of Veg-friendly items (each available with a tofu option) including such treats as eggplant, ginger, garlic, pineapple, fried rice, cashew nut, Thai peanut sauces, curry sauces, noodle dishes, soups, and more!; each with a wide assortment of Veggies.
There's also numerous appetizers (Veggie rolls, fried sweet potatoes, and corn cakes), as well innumerable salads.
Prices:
Appetizers $4-$5
Soups/Salads $5-$9
Entrees $9 ($7 at lunch, and includes Veggie rolls)
Located on between Mill Ave and Hardy Dr at the SW corner of University Dr and McKemy St. Parking is in the rear of the strip mall. (For access, turn south at McKemy St.)

I went to this restaurant for a work lunch. I ordered a curry with tofu, and to my dismay there were pieces of shrimp in the mix. They supposedly remade it, but finding large hunks of seafood in a vegetarian dish does not make me feel comfortable about whatever else may have sneaked in. Beyond that, the food was mediocre for a Thai restaurant. I ordered my food Thai hot but could barely notice any spiciness in the dish. It was quite disappointing. I did enjoy the mini-spring roll that was included with the lunch though; I thought that was a nice addition. If you're in the area, I recommend driving a block or so east to Thai Basil. Thai Elephant is roomier and has better decor, but the food left much to be desired. I won't dock the score for the accidental meat in my dish, but be careful if you go there, especially if you have an allergy.
