I am writing this as a warning to vegan travelers: Beach Spa B&B will claim to be vegan-friendly, but they do not know what they are doing. The first morning we were served oatmeal with blueberries, brown sugar, and tofu chunks mixed in it (!!!) and as if that wasn't bad enough, the guy drizzled tofu juice on top of the whole thing. It was foul. I asked for soy milk and he said he didn't have any, but he could puree some tofu and I could pour THAT on top.
I could maybe understand/excuse this if I had shown up the night before to book a room. But I made the reservation three weeks ahead of time. When I asked if they could make vegan breakfasts I was told it would be no problem at all. Guess it wasn't a problem for them, but it sure was for me.
I went to PETA HQ in Norfolk and got them a vegetarian starter guide, as well as a card detailing an offer for a free consult with a vegan chef, and pointed out to them that they have a well stocked natural foods store six blocks from them - but I will not be going back. There is just no excuse for using tofu juice for garnish.
