I'm a lacto-ovo vegetarian, and I've been going to Jade Cafe for many years. They know me by name, and I don't even have to order anymore...they see me coming and they know what I want.
There's quite a bit to offer vegetarians here. I always get the Kung Pao Tofu (spicy, $5.95), but they have many other veggie-friendly dishes (try the sweet-and-sour tofu) and sides (the spring rolls here rule all others).
I've been to other asian places where a dish might appear to be vegetarian but is really not. How many times have we been told that a dish is vegetarian, only to find out that there was meat in the sauce? Some places like to use pork as a condiment. Jade Cafe is not like that: the staff is helpful, and will gladly respond to inquiries about a dish.
This place has been a local favorite for years, and with good reason. This past fall I even walked in one day to see a Matt Gonzalez for mayor sign in the window! That says "veggies welcome" to me!
