Broadway East, the modern vegetable-focused restaurant on the edge of the Lower East Side redefines the expectations of omnivores, vegetarians and vegans alike. Celebrating wholesome ingredients, seasonality and sustainability, the predominantly vegetarian menu with fish and poultry selections, make Broadway East an exciting destination for discriminating palates of any variety. The ambience is at once stylish and inviting with a distinctive 240-square foot vertical Green Wall in the dining room, deep, rich recycled redwood tabletops and a sophisticated travertine bar.
Committed to sustainability, Broadway East utilizes green practices from filtering and carbonating its own water to participating in biodiesel recycling and composting programs. The tabletops, ceiling beams and one of the restaurants two bars are constructed from redwood reclaimed from a water tower that once loomed over the neighborhood.

Having been a fan of SF's Millenium for many years now, having a high-end organic fusion restaurant open 1/2 a block from my house is both a blessing and a curse. Blessing because its so incredibly good; curse because its so incredibly expensive.
The food is complex, with a variety of primarily vegetarian options. The menu changes pretty regularly as they work out the seasonal availability of produce, as well as their style/balance.
Strongly recommend for anyone looking for a fancy meal. Some great deals on wine actually...
