Taste of India

Reno, Nevada

The restaurant was dirty, and overwhelmed by the offensive odor of cooking dead animals...it was nauseating.

I didn't try the food, obviously. But if you don't like the smell of dead animal while you eat, and appreciate cleanliness, I'd pass on a trip to Taste of India.

Small, casual Indian restaurant with very friendly staff. Delicious lunch buffet with plenty of vegetarian options, and you can get it to go. Staples of the buffet include naan, dal makhani, basmati rice, lentil soup, gulab jamun, and an array of chutneys and salad items. In addition, there are 5-6 dishes that change daily, 2 of which are vegetarian.

Service is good (and friendly), although paying your check at the counter can seem a little chaotic. I pay with Visa, so I know they accept that. There is some themed decor, and unobtrusive Indian music playing, but this is definitely the least formal Indian place in Reno. I believe it's also the least expensive.

The food isn't fancy, but - aside from infrequent minor problems such as slightly-too-hard potatoes or underseasoning - it is very, very delicious, and it's a great deal.
