Buddha's Delight - Chinatown
$$ - average
Vietnamese
Vegan Southeast Asian cuisine, lots of realistic tofu or gluten "meat."
This restaurant serves largely Vietnamese food, with good straight vegetable dishes and a wide selection of "meat" dishes -- all "meat" is made of bean curd or wheat gluten. All food is vegan (except optional milk for coffee), but meat-eaters can be fooled.
Large sit-down restaurant on the second floor.
The extensive menu includes an array of faux meat dishes, plus delicious soups, moo-shi, hot pot specialties, Japanese sushi, Thai curry and coconut dishes, and vermicelli bowls. Unlimited buffet every day 11:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. is a sumptuous spread of appetizers, soup, several main dishes, rice, noodles, dessert.
On the 2nd floor, at the corner of Washington St.

My favorite vegetarian restaurant in Boston. They have a huge selection of fake meat dishes ranging from Chinese to Vietnamese to Japanese and more. They also have tons of veggie and tofu dishes. I have been with several meat eaters too and they all loved the food. The menu is huge, so it's hard to make a choice, but don't miss the Delight Soup or one of the Moo-Shi dishes..... This just in: Buddha's has moved upstairs at the same location, and they now offer an ALL VEGAN all you can eat BUFFET every day! It's at lunchtime only, and $7.50 weekdays, 9.50 weekends I believe. The food rocks, it's worth a drive even if you don't live in Boston.
