Vegetarian Kung Fu Camps for Kids

The Academy of Kung Fu runs "Wellness Day Camps" for students grades K-8 during PPS Inservice Days and Spring Break week. Run by elementary school teachers dedicated to offering quality enrichment opportunities on school down days, these mixed-age camps keep kids moving and engaged in literacy, gardening, sewing, crafting, and vegetarian/vegan snack activities. While the focus lies primarily on Kung Fu, students are exposed to various other art forms through high-quality instruction in outside movement arts (such as yoga, fencing, futsal, crossfit, gymnastics, capoeria, archery, aikido, and acrobatics). All levels of experience welcome!

I highly reccomend this school. My children are 6 and 10, and Wally and Lara are great with them. They have age appropriate activities and lessons. My children both love the school and beg to go to summer camps and during teacher planning days at school. The kids are encouraged to do their best and pushed in a very positive way. While there is a lot of time spent on Kung Fu, there are a lot of other activities blended into the day: gymnastics, dragon dance, coloring, sewing, etc. The cost of the day camp is very affordable and the teaching is outstanding.

My daughter has been adverse to group sports, it just hasn't been a good fit. Her involvement for a year+ at the Kung Fu Academy has been great, including in helping her understand the importance of good nutrition to maintain her strength. The staff are wonderfully supportive, and the atmosphere -- while disciplined -- is warm and friendly. I expect my child will happily attend for years to come.

My three children have been going to the Academy of Kung Fu Camps for 2 years and they love them. The teachers that run the camp provide a supportive environment with plenty of fun activities to keep my son (age 10) and my daughters (age 7 and 7) entertained for the whole day. I have, on occasion, arrived early to pick them up and hey didn't want to leave. They always have a guest instructor and my kids get to try new things like fencing, ballet or circus act.

My 9 year old daughter loves this group. They blend great and varied workouts with fun art activities. For an all day event when the school is out or for the week long sessions in the summer, I haven't found a program I'd recommend more. It's the only event my daughter gave rave reviews for last summer.
